there should be a tutorial here at the homepage of metaltabs.com of how to read tabs. If not then go to mxtabs.net and theres a tutorial there that'll help you on your way.

Junior metalhead is just a rank, has nothing to do with your age.

You may be in the wrong tunning. Since your new to guitar tunning is the sound of each string. That for help with you should go to wholenote.com. They have a online tuner. I suggest you buy a book orsomething. For tabs - if it says something like this -

E------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A--2----------3---5----------------------------------------------------------------------------
E--0---3--5------3-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

it would be played like this. The E A D stand for strings. They are the first 3 strings (standard tunning). The numbers are where you put your finger (3 = third fret). And two at the same time mean you play both at the same time. Don't give up, and stay with it!

hey i can ralate. ive been playing for over a year and all i have is a broken acoustic but i still play really crazy shit on it and ive gotten better than many of the people i know. Also, acoustics are a little harder to play so when you get an electric, you'll kick even more ass! solos are tough though.

LOL...no shit...I go for a month or so without my electric, just playing on a Takamine Jasmine cheapass acoustic, and I get back to my electric and it is like I have jumped ahead two years on my ability...course reality is for me that it is just easier for me to play..I still sound like shit!!...

Playing metal on acoustics does wonders! I started playing on an acoustic, played for three years, mainly metal, and I was way better than my friend who had been taking lessons on electric guitar for five years (I think). Of course, lead stuff is difficult as it often goes up above the 12th fret (which is the highest I can play easily on my acoustic), but rhythm stuff is great. You get strong fingers, more accurate picking, and good accuracy. So I would say keep playing on that acoustic, because you'll (probably) be able to kick ass after 2 years acoustic.
