Children of Bodom
Anyone know what's up with the new CoB album. Is it true there si some sort of ban on it's stateside release at this time? I'd like to get it when it comes out, sounds like it's gonna be pretty killer.

If it's Hatecrew Death-something-something, then there's already a thread about this, you might find something there.

It's called Hatecrew Death Roll, and I haven't heard of any ban.

Haha, well yeah, I heard it was good. I haven't heard it myself to tell you the truth, but maybe I'll downlaod some songs some day and see how it is. Hail!!!

We hope to answer some questions you may have concerning the eagerly anticipated new CHILDREN OF BODOM album, "Hate Crew Deathroll". Yes, the album has been released in Finland via Spinefarm. It was picked up by Universal Finland for distribution, and herein lies the problem with the worldwide release. Universal Finland is now offering the other divisions of Universal worldwide the option to distribute the new album. While this will probably happen in most European countries, fat chance it will happen with Universal Canada and Universal in the USA. Nonetheless, all these Universal subdivisions have until the end of March to decide whether they will pick it up for distribution or not. Until then, there is an export ban on the album, Spinefarm cannot export it. What this means is that it will be likely that we may not see the album available domestically or on import until April!

Yeah....that's what I read! I was wondering if anyone had heard of any changes to this.

The musicianship is even better than last time. The lyrical content is getting pretty fucking marginal!!! What are they thinking? "Triple corpse hammerblow" bollocks.

The titles and layrics are really hilarious.
But this album is great, but not their best in my opinion. I really like the fill-ins in "Bodom beach terror" (again a great title. )

here's a "small" hate crew deathroll review i posted on metalforums...i know its a crappy review...but still...
talk about expectations & deliverance, and heres the latest CoB album, aptly titled Hate Crew Deathroll !!! the tones, the direction, the production & above all, the music...all just perfect !!! the album exceeds its predecessors in almost everything.
the album starts off with NEEDLED 24/7...typical CoB song filled with attack & doses of melody. seems kinda experimental though with alexi using effects for vocals & some sexy basslines.
next comes SIXPOUNDER...hhheeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaavvvvyyyy !!!!! the tone seems kinda pantera-ish in the beginning...again some experiments during the song with vocal effects & loads of wah in the solo...then a typical CoB solo near the end.
then comes a song with a cheesy title...CHOKEHOLD (COCKED N' LOADED)...the song begins with an awesome annihilator-ish riff & goes on attacking till the very end.
next in line...BODOM BEACH TERROR !!! when i first heard the name it seemed like it'd be something like alexander kuoppala terrorizing people in the form of a bat or something...anyway, drummingwise perhaps the best track of the album...starts off with a catchy drum intro & has some sexy rolls in between...top-notch guitaring again seen here...the chorus part is one of the best choruses in the whole album
just when one starts to think that the guyz are moving towards attack more than melody, comes ANGELS DON'T KILL...slow but melodic from the word go...using the old-harmony-within-solo thingy...and then comes an in-flames-ish riff harmony which is perhaps the best in the whole album...only drawback...one part seems to be entirely copied from iron maiden's mother russia...but thats excusable isnt it?
ok...time for another cheesy title...TRIPLE CORPSE HAMMERBLOW !!! kinda on the same lines as northern comfort...thats what i felt...has a mmm...crappy guitar solo but an awesome track none the less
then theres LIL BLOORED RIDING HOOD.....one hell of a song name !!! another typical CoB song with a catchy riff & another of those typical sexy CoB choruses...and the transition from one part to another...mindblowing...the only drawback - keys seem kinda left out...theres a keyboard solo in the end which seems a lil out of place.
then comes the hit single YOU'RE BETTER OFF DEAD.....the sign of things to come when i first heard this song...a track totally different from any of their previous works...morre attacking than follow the reaper & catchier than hatebreeder.
aaand the last track...HATE CREW DEATHROLL !!!!! probably the best song in the album...starts off with a keyboard intro...a total attitude song with the best chorus...the solo seems metallica-ish (damage inc to be precise) but htats again okay i guess :d
guitar tone...perfect
drums...precise, sharp & huh...wotever one can ask for
keys...well this is one area where the album falters...the songs are more leyboard driven i.e start of with keyboard...but then theres little use of the keys...key solos seem out of place here & there
attack......110% attacking
melody...there sure is melody but only in small doses...not like there was in follow the reaper & hatebreeder
overall - 9/10
