Well my friend at school says that Sabian's are good for metal, but I don;t know, I also want to know which are good and not shitty because this dude said that some cymbols will break and it depends on how hard you hit and I hit pretty hard. So do you know of any that are good?

paisty is the best always.zildjians all sound the same(what was with the titaniums?!?)sabians are ok i guess.but paistys just sound way better.pretty yet ugly, muddy but clean.i think its just the almost sparkly sound from the paistys.

Ignore everything this dude just said.

If you want to play metal, but don't want "shitty" cymbals, but don't want to spend "too much money", I can only suggest the following unless you have a priceline.

Ziljian Z Costoms
Sabian AAXplosion
Paiste RUDE

^^^

what he said, Zildjarn Sabian, and to a lesser degree Paiste are all about equal in the cymbal stakes, (I can remember when paiste used to be shit though, back about 7 years ago... hehe) but I personally go for Zildjarn, I just think they are nice cymbals, and I have has bad experiances with Sabians....

Yeah I would like to see someone crack a RUDE cymbal. Paiste's are pretty damn nice but way pricey.

Just go out to the drum shop and see what you like just stay away from any cymbals you can buy in a pack (with the exception of the Paise 801 pack) I've have that since I started drumming and they still sound great.

Wuhan aren't too bad for China cymbals cause they are way cheap and sound decent for a China.

I play Sabians and like the sound i get from them. Ive been looking at that one company Meinl or something like that lately. Chris Adler(Lamb of god) and Corey Pierce(God Forbid) just switched to them. I think the drummer from Unearth may use them too. But check them out.

You can find cymbals you like in just about any company. Sabian, Zildjian, and Paiste are the most popular ones and are all prabibly equaly reliable depending on how much you spend. I have all the Sabian xs20 series cymbals and they dident cost to much money. Dont get Sabian B8s cuz they suck ass. I think the Zildjian titanium cymbals dont cost that much either and are good for playing metal.

Titaniuns suck. They are exactly the same as ZXTs, but more expensive. Anyways, don't go for brand name, play a cymbal and if it sounds good with a good price then buy it.

ziljian z customs and k customs.... as well as the regular avedis series. my drummer has two z custom crashes(19" rock crash and 18" projection crash).... and my buddy in clifton has a k custom ride that is the bomb... the standard A series are just great all around... probably the most common used cymbals.
the titaniums, zxts, zbt's are all crap.

sabian aa metal X series and the new paragon ones are pretty f'ing heav'...
the b8's are garbage.

paiste rudes are simply the toughest fucking things on the planet.... but i love the colorsound/vision series ones too... my drummer had an 18" paiste color sound crash for a while before it cracked and it sounded great.
the inovations, dimensions, and signature series are all pretty good all around cymbals...
all the 302's 402's 602's ect. are pretty crappy(except the 2002's).

there is no absolute best so that kid that was talking about paiste being hands down superior to any other cymbal makers is just retarded.... if it was as simple as that don't you think every pro rig would have paiste's in it???

ziljian and paiste are my favorites...

AA meinl just barely started making good cymbals... they even have a few people getting endorsed.... so expect great things from them.

Yeah, basically try them out or at least hear a band that uses a kind of cymbal before you buy them.

dude, get some zildjian avedus. totally solid and versitile. i use A custom but im sure my style is different. i used them all, and totally happy with my zildjians. if anyone you know plays drums, see if you can borrow one or two. trying them out first is an absolute plus.

I was around back when that thread was started, so I knew it existed. I don't know if there's anything useful in it though... But check it out.
