Pickups or Humbuckers.
If I want some new Pickups or Humbuckers which are the best to get for metal?

I've seen that quite a lot of ppl use EMG 85s and 81s. I have no experience myself, but I guess the two abovementioned models aren't bad.
EMG 707 is supposed to be really good, but I have no experience of that one either.

seymour duncans are a lot thicker, but they are more mid-rangy and not as
brite as the emg's.

I would suggest the seymour duncans. The emgs are bright, and have awesome sustain, but they sound thin. The duncuns have the full fat mean tone. If you dont like the mids just cuz them out with an eq. And the duncans have a much less annoying clean sound too.

Try DiMarzio Tone Zone and Air Norton (bridge and neck respectivley). That is a killer sound. Or, Blaze 7 for 7-Strings.

I like EMGs. Mainly the 85's and the 81's. Although both are rather bright in tone and make for and excellent lead pickup, the 81's are the brighter of the two, and a little hotter, although technically they are of lower output than the 81, but not much at all. I have 85's in both of my guitars as of right now, just because of the fact that they are made of rather bright woods, but as soon as I get that custom with a quilted maple top, I'm going for the 81's. The pre-amps in EMG's are killer for bringing out all the nuances of your picking, with cleaner tones. If I wanna get raunchier, I've got plenty of room to turn the gain up on my amp, because most of the time the gain is only set on 3. Plus they're a lot quieter. you don't get as much hum from them mainly because they are internally grounded, which brings up another advantage of using EMG's: less chance of getting shocked. Have you ever noticed that little wire connected to the underside of your bridge? That's because most pickups are grounded to the bridge so the current transfers through the strings, through YOU, and into the ground (or the rubber on your shoes, is you are wearing them). That's where the hazard comes in. let's say you are playing in the garage, barefoot and you decide to crank you Marshall as loud as it will go. The curent will go through your body, to the ground and BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're nutsack has split open. Or you are playing a show, singing, and playing guitar at the same time. Unless the mic is a wireless, one tiny little drop of saliva can become a very painful mishap, perhaps even one that sends you flying back into the drummers kit depending on the size of the PA. Most EMG's are internally grounded through the pre amp taking you out of the electric current entirely, as well as that annoying buzz that occurs every time you touch your strings. The preamp also eliminates a lot of feed back. The only real problem(s) with them is changing the battery, which usually lasts most people about a year (unless you play all the damn time like i do, then it doesn't last much more than a couple months). You have to remember to keep the guitar unplugged when not in use, to keep from draining the battery. And installing them isn't as easy as most other pickups, because you have to replace basically everything inside the guitar electronic, except for the pickup selector. The input jack, the volume and tone knobs, everything. AND unless you have seperate volume and tone knobs, for each pickup, you usually can't run two different types of pickups. Most EMG's run off of 25K pots (knobs), while most other model pickups run off 250K or 500K pots. A lot of the Seymour duncans run off 125K(the one was intentional). If you try to a pickup that requires 500K pots of of the 25K pots, the pickup requiring the 500K will sound extremely muddy, with almost no output. If you try to run a pickup only requiring 25K pots, off a higher output (like a 250K or a 500K) you will fry the pickup. So unless you have something like a Les Paul, with a seperate volume for each pickup, you have to have pickups with matching pots. this doesn't really bother me much, because i only use EMG's. But I have seen a few people who like to use something like a Pearly Gates (duncan) with an 85(EMG). And they had to get a whole new guitar just to have that setup. But anyways I like EMG's.

ohyeh, EMG's RULE!
seymour duncan makes nice pickups too, like the passive SH13 Dimebucker, dimebag's signature model and they make heaps of metal-oriented passive pickups, so if you don't want to go active, check out seymour duncan's and dimarzio's!
