Ok, i have a few questions. first off let me tell you i have been playing for about 6 ears, but am very rusty as of late. took about 6 months off.....
i would like to get back into playing, and want to pick up black metal lead.
and was wondering what scales i should be working on mainly? what skills should i be working with the most?
Also some suggestions of what tabs i should start with would be helpful.. thanks

start off by tremolo picking your scales. for example the C major scale:

Cradle is a awesome band you can also try Dimmu Borgir-Maelstrom Mephisto if you can ever find the damn tab for it lol

like mrweija said earlier, trem pick scales is a good start.

then try and play emperor, immortal, mayhem, etc.
and also try and tab some black metal to work on song construction and developing an ear for the black metal sound.

There are also a lot of differences between Black Metal.... For instance if you want ot play true black metal try Darkthrone, it´s pure and simple... or If you want to play more technical black metal try newer Emperor as in IX Equilibrium or Anthems...
