The never-ending question: What guitar??
I bought a cheap Morgan (strat copy) of a friend before christmas for about $100 (guitar prices are fucked here in Sweden). And I have started feeling like buying something else/more. So I have a few questions to ask you.
1. Is there a notable difference in sound?
I am completely happy with the sound I get right now, so I'm wondering if there is any difference in sound, and, if so, what makes the difference?
2. Would a Jackson KE3 be a "too good" guitar for me?
I have been playing for close on three years, though I haven't owned an electric guitar until right before christmas. Would $625 on a KE3 be a unusually large amount of money for a second guitar? (Keep in mind that taxes and shit add about 50% to the original price, i.e. untaxed, the guitar would cost $450)
3. Do guitars wear and tear much?
Would I be just as well of buying a used one and saving $100?
Any answers are appreciated

1. There will always be a difference, small or big because I've heard even a paint job can make a guitar sound slightly different[although i do not know if it's true.] Just like a guitar's tone can vary slightly from amp to amp.
2. Too good? Naw, never. My first electric alone was 400+. You've been playing for awhile proving that you enjoy racking it out on guitar, so go ahead and treat yourself.
3. Depends on who previsously owned them. It varies, if you find a good used guitar go ahead and save the money.

Thanks for the answer, I can't understand how everyone keeps sane with all these "help me buy a guitar"-posts....
Well, I guess I have another quiestion for you...
4. How does this stuff with taxes work? If I buy my guitar someplace else, and bring it home, will I still have to pay these horrible taxes?

It just means that in prices, the tax is included. Say someything costs 500 dkr. (my country's currency) and our tax rate is 25% (it is), the things costs 625 dkr. instead (500 x 1.25). This is how it works in Denmark, and apparently it works the same way in Sweden... ....isn't this how it works all over the world ??

Yeah, that makes sence, but what happens if I try to bring a guitar that I bought abroad into Sweden? Will I have to pay anything to bring the guitar in, or is it only the country in which I buy the guitar that will profit from me buying something?

Play everyone guitar you can play!! Make sure you will not regret the purchase.. PLay every one you can until you find the exact sound and feel you want! I suggest trying a Les Paul.. amazing guitars. Just my personal favorite though. Musicman are also really cool.

It's only the country you buy it in that profits from your purchase. I think it's free to bring in a guitar bought somewhere else....except if the guitar weighs a whole lot, then you'll have to pay a weight fee on the plane...but how many guitars way that much ?

Ok, eviscerator's info gives me reason to ask another question.
5. Does anyone know any european country that has unusually low guitar prices?
Clad in shadows, thanks for the tips/info, but that's about what I've done. I love the feel of the jacksons, and I think the sound is *at least* as good as in my current guitar (which is superb (even though it has three singlecoil pickups, of unknown brand)).
