Do you guys play with the point of the pick or with one of the ears (sides). I was just wondering because I seem to wear down picks fast. How do you hold your pick when you play something like this?

i would hold it between my index and thumb and play it with the tip if the pick

I hold the pick between my thumb and index finger with the pick lying on the joint on the index finger near the nail, and I usually hold it at an angle. It's okay to wear down your picks, it's going to happen .Judging by the wear at my pick it looks as if I play with the sides near the tip.

I hold it pretty much the same way as killingismybiz.

I hold my pick with my thumb on one side and the index and middle fingers on the other. I keep the tip point pretty much straight in line with my index and middle fingers, and sticks out about 5mm from the tips of my fingers.
The pick is rotated about 30 degrees from parallell to the string (in the vertical axis if the guitar is lying on the floor, if you get my point), and nearly perpendicular to the guitar (a normal of the guitar would be parallell to a line from the tip of the pick to the back of the pick).

I use 0.46 or 0.60 for my own guitar, but when I play in school I have to use harder picks (ususally 0.96 or 1.14) because the strings on the guitars in school are so loose (feels like you could bend a note five frets by breathing at the string).

i hold the pick with my thumb amd middle finger but i place my index finger on the top of the pick (not on one of the sides). i also hold my pick sideways, it kind of points to the fleshy part under the pinky.

i hold it between my thumb & my middle finger & place my index on the top side so that the pointed edge serves as the picking edge (pretty damn obvious)...it gives a better grip & also becomes easier to play pinch harmonic with the index finger using the technique i've described in the pinch harmonics thread...

Same as everyoen else my thumb and index, and I use the tip, it is better, sometimes when my hands are swetty I use my middle finger too, but it kind of messes me up sometimes.

Same as everyone else...but for those fast slayer thrash riffs, i need to put my hand against my guitar and stroke up and down, its cheating, but way easier.
