Recording my band on a minidisc

If i want to record my band on a minidisc, what would be best ?

1- to put some mics at the drums and one at the guitar(s), and bass, so everything is connected to the mixer; then connect the mixer to the minidisc ?

2- or to just put 1 mic connected to the minidisc somewhere in the room and record directly from there ?

mix it, it will take more effort but the sound will be heaps better.

we do a lot of one-mic recordings for rehearsal purposes, but the quality is shit, the drums are allways too loud and there's not real low or high tones, only midrange.

ah well, just mix it, it's worth the effort!

if you just wanna record striaght to minidisc mic them seperately or it'll sound gay. If you mic each seperately the instruments will be heard better.

How do you record each instrament seperately and make them fit together liek the song is supposed t go because I wan;t to do that too but don;t know how. Also is there a site to learn how to record? If so then please let me know on that one too. Thanks!

record a metronome at the speed that you're going to play at... when you go to do the final mix, mute that track so it doesn't show through on the final. You can also record cues on this track.

If that doesn't work, record drums first- they're the most basic, and determine the band's speed and rhythm. Then I would guess bass, rhythm guitar, vox, lead guitar.

also, what are you going for? just a sample to record ideas? or a full-blown semi-pro album?
