Les Pauls

hello i just bought a les paul (its not even from gibbson) it has a realy good sound to and i love it. my question is are leas pauls good for down tunning, besides this guitar rocks bought it at guitar center for 149 bucks i have other guitars and this is the only one i could of had afford please give me your thoughts....

Down tuning is ideal with les pauls because they have "tuno-matic" bridges. They stay in tune. You might need to tighten your trus rod a little if you tune down to B, but you should be ok regardless. Your neck might bow a little though. Why'd you get the Paul? Did you see those pictures of Peter Tagtren with his too? I saw him live and I must say his sound was remarkable! HYPOCRISY!!!

tell you the truth i never new he had one were in the hell have ibeen!!!!! lol actualy i got one because i know you have one and you said there good so i went to guitar center over the weekend and picked one up for 149 ducks sweet deal man but i will probley down tune it to d i have a seven string and a couple of more guitars tuned diffrent.....

I like the EMG 81. I have them on my jackson and they sound great. I would shop around a bit more before you make that kind of investment though.

I downtune my Epiphone Les Paul all the time, it´s a better metal sound

I've had mine in C tuning for a long time now.. usually have it downtuned to that or D.. works perfect.. Les Pauls ROCK!

i have seen cannibal corpse play les pauls as well. i gotta say though i love les pauls i was a guitar store and played a 1960 remkae paul HOLY SHIT it was so fucking nice!!! the best neck i have ever played on would have got it but it was like 3-4,000 or something like that

not without a significant degree of tech work/routing you wont. It'll either be a monster pain in the ass or quite expensive.

On the other hand, there are a couple of options with non-locking units. Bigsby makes a few models that would be compatible with an LP, and there's this thing on stewmac.com: http://www.stewmac.com/cgi-bin/haze...atalog/sku.html
