I dont know... I really hope its bullshit... Why would Dime leave Pantera anyway? I found that from Pantera forums... theres a lot of discussion bout it... Most of the people there believe its not true... Actually, so do I... Why would have they updated the oficial pantera site... Since theyve done that, they could update the news to... And Anyone from Pantera could give even a slight clue are they splitting up!!

The band's been dead for more than a year. Ever since they cancelled that Tattoo the Planet tour.I'm glad Dime and Vinnie finally realise it too and start working on something new.They're better off without Phil anyway,he's not capable of Pantera anymore.

Yeah, the whole Tattoo the Planet fiasco really damaged them in my eyes! it highlighted a good few things! there are plenty of better bands out there though, Dark Angel are re-formed and heading for Wacken for example!!

yeah the side projects are not as good as the main band, still Dime and Vinnie are the musical backbone of Pantera and I think their new band will be worth checking out.We'll see... I hope we'll get to hear something soon.

I'm agreeing with Disciple here. We should all be happy that Vinnie and Dime aren't like so many other money-whore musicians that would've just as easily hired a replacement bassist and vocalist, and continued on under the Pantera name.

I just read in the latest Guitar World issue that Zack Wylde and Dime are trying to convince Van Halen to record an album together....all 3 of 'em.
Do you realize how fucking cool that might be?? DO YOU!??!?
Up till now Van Halen hasn't been too helpful.....but the 2 drunk bastards aren't giving up.

'Tis sad news to hear one of the greatest metal bands of all time is calling it quits, but its probably for the best. Dont get me wrong, im a HUGE pantera fan, but the band as a whole was dying out anyway. Reinventing the steel had some good tracks, but it was by no means equal to past efforts such as Far Beyond Driven or the immortal Vulgar Display of Power. So its probably best for the band to part ways now before they get any worse.
Im looking forward to hearing Vinnie and Dimes new project, as well as anything else Down may put out, but I dont think anything they do is ever gonna top NOLA.

Disciple, and those who agree with him, are right. Everyone else is wrong. This isnt unexpected. They hadnt officially broken up, but if you thought they werent on the way, you werent paying attention, and if you werent paying attention, well, you've devalued your thoughts on the matter.
This is probably for the best. Phil doesnt seem capable of much anymore. His tours with his better sideprojects got fucked up by his behavior and lack of professionalism. I wouldnt want to see the Pantera name stamped on anything as weak as what they might have done.
And Steve, you know that has nothing to do with music. Letting that affect what the music does is like rejecting Byron because he fucked boys; that is, irrelevant. But still, I hope that you were saying that it's ruined your appreciation of the music. I can find no other explanation I like for your saying that a good, but not exceptional, and somewhat typical, thrash band is better than what Pantera was. I cant speak for anyone else, but I'd take Vulgar Display of Power over ten Darkness Descends. Now, if you had said Slayer...

I read in some magazine a while ago that Dime and Zakk were trying to get a "Metal G3" tour happinen. I think this would possibly be one of the coolest fucking things ever, ESPECIALLY if EVH was involved.
