Iced Earth is not melodic death metal, they are far from having any relation to DM. They are simply melodic metal, like the kind that was huge in the 80's (preist, maiden, etc.). The band themselves classify them as being extreme melodic metal.

Ok so its not drum triggers, my mistake but they do make something to make him play faster. I have seen them live twice and his actions don't match the sound. the crash will hit somtimes before he does, and from what it sounds like, the double bass is going WAY faster than he is going. I think its something for everybeat he plays it repeats it.

1. I don't know how you could list Exhorder and Pantera in the same category. All Pantera did was rip off Exhorder. I even have a picture of Phil wearing an Exhorder shirt. Here's the story- Phil used to go to Exhorder shows. Then Phil joined a glam band. 6 months later, the glam band now sounds like watered-down Exhorder. Then they release Power Metal and later gain fame with an album called Cowbows from Hell, which is really a poor-man's Slaughter in the Vatican. Obviously my pick is Exhorder.
2. The best speed band is either Testament or Exodus. Every single band you have in your list has released some shitty albums going into the 90's. You should have put Dark Angel or Death Angel in there, because they are both Bay Area thrash bands like Testament and Exodus, only they never released any garbage albums. So I'll pick Dark Angel even though they are not on the list.
3. The sickest band lyrically is none of the bands in your list. Chris Barnes' lyrics aren't sick, they are just stupid. Any 8th grader can take a bunch of gory sounding words, throw them together, and have written Meat Hook Sodomy. Barnes' lyrics are amongst the worst I've ever seen. I usually hate gore lyrics because they are so stupid, but the one band that got it down perfect was Carcass. Carcass managed to write gore lyrics in a way that was both intelligent and humorous, which is something no other band has been able to do. Therefore, my pick is Carcass.
4. The best current grindcore band is Emesis, a band you probably have never heard of. I know very little about them myself. 95% of all grindcore sucks immensly, 3% is OK, and only 2% is actually good. Carcass were also good in their Grind stage.
5. The best black metal band is Emperor, and no other black metal band will ever be able to compare to them musically in terms of technicality. Let's see another black metal band try to release something as complex as Prometheus or IX Equilibrium. Fat chance. You really should have Bathory in the list to pick from as well.
6. The best death metal band is not in your list. In fact, I could think of 5 better death metal bands than the one's in your list. The best death metal band, by far, is Suffocation. In case you were wondering what the other 4 were, they were, Necrophagist, Monstrosity, Malevolent Creation, and Cannibal Corpse. I'm sure I could think of 10 more easy.
7. Melodic death metal sucks. You are either death metal or melodic metal (i.e. Progressive metal). I have no problem with melodic metal, however, I don't like melodic death metal in most circumstances. Early In Flames was very good, though.
8. Stoner Metal sucks too.
9. The fastest death metal band definitely isn't the Berzerker. The Berzerker are actually my 2nd favorite band, with every other band in the world tied for first. No offense, but you must not have heard much metal if you think Berzerker are the fastest. You should check out Vader, Cryptopsy, Possessed, or pretty much any band faster than the Berzerker. Sorry if it seems like I'm trying to be a jerk, I'm not. Just letting you in on a couple of things.

Phil is from New Orleans, as is Exhorder, but the rest of Pantera is from Texas. So, if that's the same town to you, then they're from the same town.
As for Pantera ripping off Exhorder, everyone who says so is unfortunately retarded. I have no problem with Exhorder, aside from their being irredeemably mediocre. For, you see, Phil sounding like the vocalist from Exhorder does not mean the entire band is a rip off. It means that - and I know that this is impossible, but you'll have to bear with me - two people who grew up at about the same time in about the same place have similar voices. I know, I know, it's too hard to believe. Cowboys From Hell sounds no more like a rip off of Slaughter in the Vatican than Slaughter in the Vatican sounds like a rip off of early Slayer, with a different vocalist. In fact, you could say that Dark Angel, who you also mention, is a rip off of Slayer, if Pantera's a rip off of Exhorder. And why could you say that? Well, because they sound as much like Slayer as Pantera does like Exhorder. I mean, they play fast, and their singer sings in the same register, and, and they both have double bass drumming! Anyway, although I can somewhat see the Exhorder claim on Cowboys, because the voices sound similar and they both have a thrash influence, I miss seeing how the rest of what Pantera released is a rip off of Exhorder. I've heard enough Exhorder (all of it) to know that, as much as it doesnt, aside, of course, from the vocals, sound particularly like Pantera on Cowboys, it sounds less like them on any later album. Could it just be that you dont like Pantera and saw the similarities in voice and, like every other douce who's made this claim, decided that was enough to make a false claim? I really dont understand why disliking a band isnt enough for you, that you have to make up stories about it. I mean, hell, isnt it easy enough to just say "Exhorder" without you're dumbass remarks? I think so.
As for best bands, this is a banal topic. slayme's right, all else are wrong. The end.
