Anyone know why my amp picks up radio stations? I've just moved and it never did that before. I'll turn it on to jam and I can hear hip-hop coming through the amp or headphones. It really pisses me off. It's a Marshall VS265R 2x12 valvestate combo.

dude ull probably find it is actually ur guitar pickin up the sounds i expect ur near a radio station. its the same with mobile phones if u put it nxt to ur pickups then u can play rngtones through ur amp or listen to the person talkin

haha, yeah, a friend of mine recieved a german radio station on his hughes and kettner once, it was because of the un-earthed power outlet...

most amp have an extra 'ground' thingy, just take a little wire and hook it up to something steel/big thingy, a staircase or whatever, it works most of the time I guess....

if it's your amp that is..

i can pick up a woerd spanish station on my amp every now and again and my friends house we can pick up some talk radio shit

My amp used to do that when I was on the third floor. Try turning the pre-amp
gain back, & move it around, to not get the siginal.

I think that either some witty friend of yours is pulling your leg
and you`ve got a real radio hooked up to your amp
(... oh shit! ...) OR you`re indeed living next to a high power radio station
and electromagnetic waves it emits somehow resonate with circuits of your
amp.

If the grounding won`t work then you should include an additional electrical
component in the circuit with big coils in order to change
the frequency of the resonance (I suggest you having it done
by an electrician).

I cant remember. That was about a year and a half ago. I think it was an A's game or somehting. I only could here it for about five minutes. Then when I adjusted the tone knob on my ds1 it changed the station.

That's not possible. An amp just has metal in it making it able to pickup radio. It doesn't have the hardware necesary to broadcast soundwaves at a certain FM/AM channel

Though you could easily build the stuff needed for you amp to broadcast stuff. However, in most countries, it would be illegal to broadcast radio without a "license".

My amp picked up talk radio when i got bored and plugged it into my sisters keyboard. Also, if you take a TV remote control, aim it at a pickup on your guitar, and press a button you can hear weird sounds thru the amp. It's pretty cool cause different buttons on the remote make different sounds. I dont know if it might damage your pickups if you do it too much, though
