passive pickups...please suggest and help
hiya
i recently enquired about gettin emg's into my maverick f-1 axe, however i was told they wouldnt go in due to the rollers on it instead of standard volume and tone dials
however, the guy at the shop i got it from said he would fix in some shadow pickups for me so i could test them, so i left it with him for 4 days so he would do it. I went tot get it today, and he hadnt done it... becuase a maverick
A) doesnt have enough room for the active system
B)the rollers wont hold the switches
both of which he'd told me already... how pissed off i was
anyways... i desperatley need some replacement pickups, high power as poss, though they gotta be passive now... hopin for some suggestions? i want some for the bridge that can handle high, low. raw distortion power they must handle aswell as i crank my beast up (peavey 5150)
cheers, please suggest high output passive pickups for METAL!
oh yeah, sorry i havnt wrote up the modes thing yet, ive been crushed for time and was barfin my guts up over the last day or so so havnt had much time there either:< sorry, ill do it soon

while we're on the topic of passive pickups, and since Bones98 mentioned EMG-HZ's, are those passive or active?

hz's are passive from what I've heard, they are the fake EMG's.
normal EMG's are active though.

Dimarzio Evolution or X2N... both have higher output than EMGs (Emg's have 385 mv, Evolution weighs in at 404, and X2n at 510mv).

They're passive, but I like the Seymour Duncan Screamin Demons better than the EMG HZ's, Screamin Demons give better clean sound

Oi!!!!!!
EMG HZ are not fake!
LOL!!!! EMG HZ's are as authentic as they were 16 years ago!!!!
EMG makes 5 different passive pickups but I'm not sure how many
powered pickups do they make......

Why not try Mighty Mite?
I have been using EMGs both active and passive and they're hot as any pickups produced by the other big ones (Seymour/Dimarzio etc). If you are looking for another good passive pickup, get Mighty Mite's motherbucker, bluesbucker or humbucker. They're great too and will not let your sound thin out
