tremolo
First off i am in drop-d tuning so my strings are really loose. I cant seem to tremolo with them like that. Any suggestions?

If you're in Dropped D, your strings shouldn't be that lose...I have a 6 string in B and I can still trem pick on that...maybe you just need to get used to it, and fuck with it more.
Might also be your strings, if they're old or something, try it on a different guitar if you can, or replace your strings.
If you still can't get it...then I'm out of ideas for now.

hehe...stock...i just got back from a gig in a diff state and picked the guitar up at some guitar center on the way home and i havent had time to do anything with it

Then I'd suggest just replacing the strings...
You shouldn't have any problems if you just use most standard gauges.

umm, what step of drop D are you in for the string to be loose? i can always trem pick no matter what. I could just be putting them on and them being too low to tune, you can still tem pick. Eh, whatever. Are you sure we're talking about the same thing?

start slowly alternate picking the same notes,
then you'll get faster and faster
that's only practice!!
BTW change your tuning....DropD is really pathetic

well thats tremolo picking, tremolo could also mean vibrato, where you vibrate the string by moving your fingers on the fretboard, or with a tremolo bar |

what's a tremolo bar...or do you mean the wammy bar?
and how is tremolo the same thing as vibrato? i think you're confused.
if you want to learn to tremolo fast, quickly:
1. in the air, not using your wrist, make a circle using only your index and thumb.
2. hold the guitar like you normally do, picking with your wrist floor to ceiling.
3. now, start making cirlular motion with your fingers, and *wow* you've just doubled you speed!

Vibrato is a rapid change, increase and decrease in pitch, of a note, which can be done by fingers or the tremolo bar, more commonly called a whammy bar.
Did that clear anythign up for anyone?
