Taken Away
Thanks for reading.
"Taken Away"
Image murdered by disease
Wealth crumbled by man
Soundless words on my deaf ears
But I respond
Room by room
Everyday ants work their way to their dollars
Unknowingly following a trail
Clasped from home's hands where peace
Should be held
How could this be?
Who took this from me?
All that glitters golden isn't gold
But someone knew
Who knew?
Spears of agony rip through my heart
Tear at my tears, violated
Questioned punctured trusts
Searching their eyes all around me
Clinging to what I hold
Opened one at a time
Falling further into grief with each rung
The familiar and the empty
Gaping like pieces of my own flesh
That have been torn from me
And now everything is worthless
Robbed of treasures dear
Only one option to possibly rectify
Slim odds in my favor
But I just can't force it to matter
If I move the lifeless trinkets from my heart
Will I be robbed of what's left
Memories painful to remember
Taken, those things of gold

I have this image of someone balancing at the edge of the roof of a very high building, and someone else standing a few paces back shouting "jump jump jump!". Wonder where it came from?
No, this wasn't an uplifting read but at least it was more interesting than the usual run of the mill stuff of this kind. I guess I feel it hits home because it is a pretty good summation of a number of stories I've had the mixed pleasure of hearing firsthand.

It was another dream. Basically my old job, but I found my jewelry box and anything that might be worth a little was gone. I woke up and felt so odd, but right before I woke the word fingerprints came into my head. I think that's the only thing that kept it from being a panicked awakening.
I'm sure you have heard bits and pieces because a lot of it was based on my past events.

Hm, nice combination of mundane and thoughtful then.
To be honest though, I thought about stories I've heard when working with homeless people and drug addicts; the wording hits home pretty well there too.

I love to hear multiple meanings so I'm glad you shared that with me.

Thanks. I'm glad I wrote what it was about because I'll be hanged if I could remember when I read it again! haha
