Ahha.
I called Wal-Mart's pharmacy and they recommended using jock itch cream. All signs are disappearing, so sex is feasible unless she starts her period soon.
My hemorrhoid is still causing me a tremendous amounts of pain.

The only part I really didn't like was the laughing gas...felt like I was gonna black out/puke. Other than that it was very painless.

The dentist I went to injected some type of anesthetic into me. I was looking for what it's called because morphine doesn't seem like the appropriate thing to knock someone out with. And this was stumbled upon.

I'm not sure if I got that. Heres what happened:
1. They gave me nitrous oxide for some reason. I tell them to stop it
2. A few minutes later they put an IV in, I think its local anesthetic.
3. 5 minutes later they knock me out
I don't think I got the morphine, I got a shot in my mouth while I was under but I don't think that was it. They gave me about 20 pills of vicadin that I'm not gonna use, do you guys no if its worth anything?

The 5's are worth 3 bucks, 7.5's and 10's are worth 4-6 depending on who is buying. How can you get them to me?

No, you take 5 or 6 of them and drink a few beers to feel great. That's what I would do anyhow.

I'd rather take a few and smoke some bowls, it's the most relaxing feeling possible.

They just raised the price on cigarettes again where I live. Dorals used to be under 3 dollars, now their 4.50. Epically gay.
Not that I smoke Dorals (well, every now and then, when I'm short on cash. Nasty shit). I smoke Camels, but fuck, those are almost more than 5 bucks.

Yo guys you should love this!
Virtual Drums!
It's kinda crappy in the beginning, but try playing along to the White Stripes - surprisingly easy!
Drumfills are kicking my ass though
Nothing too special, but a great timewaster.

I just bought a pack of Basic, it cost me $4.12. 2 years ago a pack of Basic was $2.50. I have a feeling I'll be quitting soon.

Hello again! Haha you already answered that question, though. At which point I made a wanky joke about how Armagh sounds like "our ma"
How's tricks? I take it you heard about the soldiers getting clipped in Antrim? And obviously you heard about the cop in Armagh? Fuck sake, I hope this shit isn't starting up again!

Haha I wasn't trying to get any specific details about your street or anything
I know that Armagh has a particularly tragic history in terms of the past 30-odd years, so I can't imagine the shit you must have seen/experienced! Until the recent barracks shootings Antrim was primarily a druggie hole rather than a paramilitary one (although the paramilitaries are running the drug game here haha, but you know what I mean - there's been very little in the way of "troubles-related" violence). It's amazing how 800-year-old hatred can be laid to one side so easily in the name of "business"!

lol paddy i know i'm just weird lol i live close to armagh itself
& yeah lets just say i've just about managed to put what i've seen/heard etc to one side now but yeah it still comes out though sometimes
& lol yeah i know what you mean mate about the drugs thing yeah it really fucked me off how they could just turn around and do that, why couldn't they have done it 30 years ago?? simple answer - they all were making too much money out of it
i think because of what i grew up in, i have a problem with authority i.e "the pelars" (lazy fucking scum the lot of them) & a real hatred for politicans (wouldn't trust any of them).
my mum was a nurse so yeah i've seen some shocking injuries (used to wait for her to end her shift & would see people coming in). people knocking on the hospital door & leaving someone near dead on the steps & fucking off was a regular occurance.
have seen someone being carried in by two men in balaclavas & dumped in the middle of the reception & just walked out, the man has both his knee-caps done in.
cars burnt out, people being dragged out of their cars by gunpoint, usual shit like that!
walking up the street with army on both sides, stood at roughly every 3 feet you just ignored them the only time you noticed when they weren't there (if that makes sense).

Fuck off. If they had spent most of their time killing each other instead of civilians they might not boil my blood so much!
My da was a nurse too, and like your mum he has plenty of "interesting" stories hahaha. He came out of work sick just before I was born though, so luckily I didn't have to see the things you saw. In another thread I talked about how my da would regularly be accosted by the IRA in his area (Falls Road - shock!) to accompany them so that he could administer first aid to some poor fuck they'd be kneecapping. You can't really refuse when several armed men knock on the door!
There was one kneecapping victim he was treating in hospital. Something they do is make a marking on the leg, to check if the swelling or the bruising or whatever grows bigger or smaller from what it was the day before. The marking kept disappearing, however. No one could figure it out. So, they decided to open up the stitches and have a root around. The guy was awake when they took him into the theatre, and as soon as they removed a few stitches the whole leg just burst open. A huge pulsating lump of maggots spilled out onto the floor, making a whet thud as they impacted. His leg was almost entirely empty, except for the bone. The guy started screaming, and begged them to just amputate the leg. What had happened was, he was kneecapped in a waste ground (as is often the case) and the dirt had gotten into the wound, and the dirt contained quite a few lovely eggs Yum yum!
Speaking of the peelers, my dad used to be a first aid worker before he was a nurse (he was in the Order of Malta) and one of the things he told me about stuck in my head more than any other. Before I tell you the story though, I want to make it clear that I'm not saying all cops are like this (and clearly they're not), and that this was carried out by a handful of sick bastards who just happened to be in uniform. Anyway, enough with the preamble.
A group of first aiders which included my da were in a house, having a rest and a cup of tea. There was a pretty big riot going on in the street (which is why they were there). Across the road, my da saw three cops walk into a house. A few minutes later, they came back out again, closing the door behind them (which was the first sign that something was up). My da kept glancing back to the house, expecting to see smoke pouring out or something. After maybe 5 minutes he heard screaming - the kind of screaming that would cut through the din of a riot and make everyone stop in their tracks. He and his colleagues jumped up and ran across the street. The door was locked, so they kicked it down. The screaming was coming from upstairs, so up they went. They found the room where the guy was screaming. Trying to ignore the smell and the noise, the first aiders attended to the guy. Here's what happened:
The cops had stripped the mattress off the bed, revealing the metal spring base. The guy was tied down onto the bed, facing the ceiling. Then a portable radiator was placed under the bed, at which point the cops left.
The guy's back had melted. His skin was bubbling and oozing all over the springs, and he was intertwined with the bed. They lifted him off, leaving behind something resembling pizza topping, and placed him in the bathtub and ran the cold water over him.
The guy survived, but was obviously hideously scarred and walks hunched over because of the state of his back. I can't imagine what would have happened if the first aid group hadn't been stationed across the road.
Good times!

yeah i know paddy i heard of that happening before.
i went to do first aid training while at secondary school once with the st john's ambulance & the other time with the order of malta (which in fact i preferred 'cause my friends from the catholic school where attending), during the troubles & yeah that was erm interesting lol
i remember one of them telling us stories, this one guy was double (double) knee-capped & then attacked with a "baseball bat" - you know the nice friendly one with the six inch nails driven through it, & of course double double knee-capped, knee-capped in both knees, back & front & then legs battered with the "baseball bat", he was begging for both his legs to be amupted above the knee.
rofl at darko!! what?? we just sharing stories & believe me when i said a lot worse than what we have been telling happened poor fucks
& when i was over visiting bf last year he laughed at me, cause i heard a noise & i looked up and said "gunshot?" & he laughed and said "no hun, fireworks". he said amazing the cultural difference, but then he said why would i think it was fireworks? lol

Ahhh you were in the Order of Malta too? I've never been involved in any of that sort of work myself, but my little bro and my ma were nurses in residential homes and mental hospitals for years. I don't think I'm cut out for that sort of thing, to be honest haha. It's not so much the shit and blood and other horrible experiences, I just don't "care" enough, if you know what I mean
That's brutality beyond words - the guy was kneecapped 4 times, then he was battered with baseball bats studded with nails. Something tells me the punishment didn't fit the crime haha. A joyrider perhaps? Or did he say something out of line about his local paramilitary group? Fuckin' sociopaths.
I know what you mean about picking up certain traits which seem weird to outsiders. From his experience in dealing with various gunshot wounds, and living on the Falls, my da can usually tell just from a distant sound which weapon is being used. That's the sort of skill only military and gun enthusiasts should have, but many ordinary people here are quite adept at identifying weaponry and calibres. Also, when you're in another country and it's getting dark, you can't help but get annoyed when people are opening the curtains and having a peek outside, or are just standing too close to the window for extended periods of time. That kinda thing is considered suicide by most people here! Even to this day my older relatives still lose their minds about little things like that.
Thank fuck it's (hopefully) all over with now. I think I've been extremely lucky though, and I think having mixed parents/brothers helped immunise me from the hatred and bitterness haha. My da is from the Falls, and my ma is from Taughmonagh - probably more staunchly loyalist than the Shankill ever was! (I'm an atheist, but unfortunately being called "Paddy" renders my actual beliefs irrelevant oh well!) Everyone on my da's side is Catholic and everyone on my ma's side is Protestant, or some variation thereof, and there's never been a problem. Well, no problems related to religion/politics, anyway!

rofl to the window comment paddy, i know what you mean!!
no i wasn't in the order of malta, the school just sent us for first aid training *shrug* everyone had to go, some weird school policy lol
i was raised protestant but because i live in a rural area, my friends were catholic & i think it's different in rural areas that sorta shit doesn't matter but there are still some really bitter people, which i never could fucking understand, my family brought me up to treat everyone the same & only hate them if they've done something to you personally & then you don't go around hating the whole fucking religion lol & i'm a pagan now
friends & me just grew apart 'cause friends do, our interests etc changed when i was about 19 & we drifted apart but we still talk if we meet each other,
& your name i presume is patrick? then you're gonna get paddy lol no matter what side you're on
& yeah i know that shit about gunshots etc is kinda cool to freak people out with though lol
& over in England & elsewhere i'm "Irish" doesn't matter what side of border or anything you come from.
yeah i know he just laughed at me & gave me a hug & said "sorry didn't mean to laugh" just different upbringings, when all your life you hear what sounds like gunfire/bombs going off you automatically thing that when you hear that sound.
& yeah i have tried to explain to him what it was like but fuck no way will you understand unless you've lived through it.
& your parents/family mixed? throughout the troubles? & they stayed in antrim? fuckin' hell!! & nothing happened to them? i remember families being burned outa their homes in county armagh 'cause they were the "wrong religion", some of them lucky to get out slightly burned & alive.
but yeah as you say mate hopefully all that shit is finished with now.

In my experience the embittered bigots are generally outnumbered 50-to-1 by people like you and I. Unfortunately it only takes that one to do/say something horrible and we're all fucked because of it haha. The media has a lot to answer for in that respect - they don't (and can't) report the fact that people tend to get along. They only report things of significance, which in this case is usually violence, so that's all we see and that's how we form our ideas and opinions and (more importantly) fears about our neighbours. We need to be deprogrammed!

LOL tell me about it! I actually got punched in the face once when I was younger because some eejit overheard a friend of mine calling me from the other end of the street. This was before we really understood about the sectarianism, so I guess you could call that episode a crash course in hatred!

Yeah, I've always had trouble understanding that. I have no problem with being British though (one cunt of a politician is gonna be the same as any other, so fuck it) my only real complaint is that Little Britain never does a N. Irish sketch

Yeah, as mixed as they come! They met during the 70's, so the troubles didn't dissuade their love (but 26 years of marriage certainly did! LOL). My ma was widowed before she met my da - she was originally married to a British soldier (he didn't die in the troubles, it was medical), so I can't imagine a more cross-community paring than this! My da married a 20-something Protestant soldier-widow and adopted her three kids (they had me and my wee brother after that). That's pretty impressive, to me anyway.
In fact, I live in a staunchly republican hole and I know of two other families besides mine just in this street alone who are mixed. In one family, the mother and 2 of the kids are from the Shankill, while the father and the other kid are from the Falls or somewhere near it. 2 of my oldest friends from this estate are Protestants, and strangely enough there's a gang of hoods here and they are mixed, yet they tend to fight with a sect of loyalist hoods from the next estate. That sums up the entire troubles for me - fucking morons who know fuck all about anything, just looking for a head to smash. If it's not religion, it'll be drugs, or even football!
But yeah, there's never been a problem for us because of our religious cross-breeding haha. So, when you gonna leave that boyfriend of yours and settle down with some good fenian scum? We owe it to the future of our country!
Haha only slaggin'

Congrats on the assignment! Are you studying just Java or is it part of a larger course?
I don't watch sports, but it was nice to see Ireland win this for the first since 1948 haha. Then again, I only knew they hadn't won it since 1948 because I accidentally read it on Wikipedia. See? I can't even pretend to be sporty I'm just too busy to watch sports, I have a backlog of several hundred sequels of Cum-Lapping Midget Sluts to get through!
EDIT: MTM, what context is the word used in? I know people say "I'm chuffed" to mean "I'm pleased/happy". Does that sound about right? haha

That's great! I actually started an OU course once a few years back, but bailed after a few weeks haha. I was toying with the idea of learning Spanish though, and if I can get over the fear of the oral side of it I'll probably go through with it. It doesn't cost me anything (or at least not much) because I'm certified nuts and get DLA and other benefits which entitle me to certain financial breaks (that's right, they've started certifying Irishness as a disease ). So my advice to you is, if you're struggling with fees, develop a crippling mental illness!

paddy and bunny, i've never been well knowledged on Ireland or what goes on over there but you guys definitely caught my attention now. Keep the stories coming. I might have to do some research on my own too. Can you fill me in a bit on the history? Like what led up to why things are like that. it'd be much appreciated.

it all started with a temporary division between the north of ireland & the south of ireland, the people in the south wanted ireland whole again & to be under southern rule, the people of the north didn't & wanted it be under british rule, so basically some sick fucks started shooting, bombing people & torturing (including pelars).
that's the abridged version lol
it's kinda stopped now we have sorta peace, but still a few sick fucks want the violence, i grew up in amongst it during the 80's - '90's.
my parents told me the day i was born the ira hijacked a police van & took all the police out & lined them up against a wall blindfolded them & shot them against the wall, a few years ago in one of the places where i worked i was talking to a woman who worked in the canteen & one of her brothers was one of the ones killed. yeah the year i was born was one of the worst of the troubles.
me & my mum both missed being caught up in bombs going off. where my school was (secondary school) it was next to the courthouse - anyway a bomb went off early it was due to go off at 10am (it went off at 1am the night/morning before) & if it had gone off when it was meant to have gone off i'd have been at school & yes they gave warnings but sometimes they drove people towards where the bomb was.
& my mum was meant to have stayed at a hotel in Enniskillen one night with her work but she had to call it off, can't remember why but she couldn't go & that evening a bomb went off in the hotel where she would have been staying.
but there are shitload of stories like that, near-misses lol

wow bunny, that's crazy! It sucks that you had to live through all that but at least you LIVED through it and now you have some pretty amazing stories to tell. So now that it's calmed down, how often do violent acts occur? Whats some of the wildest things that you've personally witnessed?

I'll take over until you get back hahaha.
A slightly less abridged version of what sparked off the modern day troubles (the past 30+ years, that is) has a lot to do with the extreme segregation and thus distrust between the Catholic and Protestant communities. The Catholics claimed that they were treated as second class citizens, getting overlooked for jobs and housing and stuff like that, and that the Protestant community were favoured, primarily because the Unionists basically ran the show for many years. The Protestant community felt besieged because of this, as if there would be a revolt at any moment, and the distrust and the bitterness increased. The IRA weren't generally supported by the Catholics at that point, but when riots broke out and people were burned out of their homes the IRA started to get a foothold in the community, as the "protectors" who were holding off loyalist mobs. The same happened in the Protestant community - loyalist paramilitaries started to take root and were both a direct counter to the IRA and a form of protection for their communities from angry republican mobs. At this point the British army were sent in as a sort of neutral referee, to keep the two sides from obliterating each other. Given that they were British and were naturally more sympathetic towards supporters of Britain, distrust developed between them and the Catholic community, and that basically got the ball rolling on the modern wave of brutality.
The details are very much in debate, even today. That is, the perceived mistreatment of Catholics and the role of the paramilitaries is contested (this is half the problem - no one will admit to anything, or they will claim things which are exaggerated, etc.). The truth is, working class Protestant communities were just as impoverished as the Catholics at that time. The politicians were, in my mind, 100% responsible for the carnage that took place here. They each instilled unjustified fear into their respective communities, and everyone thought everyone else was out to kill them haha, and this gave the murdering bastards in balaclavas the support they needed to operate freely. There can be little doubt that, politically speaking, there was favouritism and gerrymandering and all of that. But there was a Civil Rights Association (headed by a Protestant MP) which was inspired by Martin Luther King's one in the U.S., and this was getting the job done peacefully. But during one of their marches for equal rights the British Paratroopers paid them a visit.
Bloody Sunday happened in 1972, and the IRA split. The old Marxist IRA (who were generally less murderous - they were more into blowing up buildings and costing the government money than killing people, or so they said) were sort of pushed out to the margins while the new Provisional IRA (or the Provies) took centre stage, owing to the anger over what had happened. These guys were bloodthirsty, and had no qualms about murdering people in their beds or in front of their kids, and in fact one of the most horrific atrocities in this country was carried out by them: Bloody Friday. 22 bombs in one day, in the city centre (Belfast). The loyalist paramilitaries acted in response to the Provies' campaign, and it was basically a lot of back and forth killings (or "tit for tat" as the media liked to call it) between them.
The two aforementioned events set the country back a good 20 years. The police force in the country were considered by Catholics to be untrustworthy (they were predominantly Protestant) and allegations of collusion between the police and loyalist paramilitaries was taking place (that is, the cops providing details and weapons to the hit squads). So, this was a further source of misery for everyone.
All of this shit is very gradually being sorted out. The police force now have a sort of "affirmative action" thing by which they try to employ equal numbers of Catholics and Protestants, and the most extreme politicians who wouldn't even be in the same building together are now talking.
The RIRA (Real IRA - one of many splinter groups) recently took it upon themselves to get this shit going again, by murdering 2 soldiers in my town and a police officer in bunny's county. Luckily the entire community is 100% against them, and without support they can't really get much done. They need to be supported because they depend on the silence of their "community". That is, if people are willing to hand them over to the authorities they can't really do much. The Provies and loyalist paramilitaries had support, and as a result "informers" were dealt with in the most brutal manner.
The Shankill Butchers were an example of how there are limits that even hard-liners have in terms of what they will allow to be done in their names. These guys were assassinated by the IRA, but the IRA were given the necessary details and weapons by the loyalists. They were a disgrace to both sides, and they came together to clean up the mess. In a sick way, it's almost heart-warming! hahahaha
So, there you have it Now that some context has been established bunny and I can entertain you with tales of murder and destruction!

Cheers! I was surprised that I knew that much, to be honest haha.
Incidentally, I've read several books about the troubles, but there's only one book I would recommend to an "outsider", because it cuts through the politics and the romanticism and the other bullshit and just gives you the human side of it, which is most important. The book is "Lost Lives" (have you read it bunny? Fucking heartbreaking...). It's a chronicle of all (or most) of the deaths in N. Ireland which were a direct result of the troubles from 1966 to 1999, and it gives descriptions of each death with background info and other details where available. The truth about the troubles begins the form in your mind without you realising it, just by reading about the torment and the brutality. If you've watched any films about N. Ireland, forget them, they're all bollocks. Enjoyable to watch, I'm sure, but not informative in the least. There are exceptions, but they're so rare and unknown that it'd be nearly impossible for you to find them (low-budget independent films, mostly).

when i was about 16 or 17 i was at a friends house in armagh itself & her older brother came in & sat down & started talking to us then about half-an hour so later he started giving off about prods this & prods that & my friend looked at me & said "they not all bad" & he said 'yes they are the whole fucking lot of them & if i get one i'll blow their fucking head off' & he grabbed a sawn-off (shotgun) outa his jacket.
me being me & not giving a fuck & kinda call people's bluff said "i'm one"
"one what?" was his reply,
"a protestant" i said (which wasn't strictly true 'cause i turned pagan around 15 /16 but i was fuckin' sick of him going on about people of my religion, where i came from - if that makes sense)
he stood up & took the shotgun & pointed it to my head to which i looked at him at said
"go on then, i don't give a fuck i was thinking of doing myself in anyway, you'll save me the bother"
he just looked at me, put the gun down & laughed & said he was only messing about.
me & my friend still remained friends after that but her brother gave me a wide berth after that lol kept saying i was fucking crazy *shrug*

Yeah, I remember learning about Irish history in school, but it was the "old" history, the latest part of which was dealing with the partitioning - that is, fuck-all about the 60's onwards. I think most schools wouldn't touch the modern stuff with a 10' barge pole
It shows how extremely sensitive the situation was/is if schools were willing to excise large chunks of our history just to prevent any "problems". When the soldiers were killed recently there was a piece about it on the news, with teachers and parents talking about the difficulties in explaining the killings to their young kids, because they have no clue as to what was happening just 10 years ago haha. I think proper, cold, dispassionate education about all of this would have helped stop it decades ago, and will help prevent a resurgence of hatred/violence in the future. Most people I've spoken to don't even realise that the original republican movement (that is, the movement which aimed to take Ireland out of the hands of the British state) was started by Protestants - Wolfe Tone and Robert Emmet!
Hopefully, as you say, things are changing in the education system. It should have been first on the agenda, nevermind policing reformations and the like.

Fuck hahaha! Remind me never to piss you off The sad thing is, I know you were probably serious when you said "I don't care, I was gonna do myself in anyway"...
My dad and I nearly got clipped once. We walked into the middle of a prearranged "hit" on a taxi driver. It's a long story, but I've typed enough for one day so I'll save it for later hahaha.

Slight guess, but I think the maintaining of the "oh fuck off"-attitude whilst having a gun pointed at you miiiiiiiiiiiiight have something to do with it.

Alrighty, here's a story that popped into my head just now. My brother had a friend when he was in his early twenties. The friend was a sort of punk rocker type, with a huge purple mohican and the like. They were buddies for ages but eventually started to lose touch. The next time my brother heard about him he had been murdered. My other brother was at uni in England at the time, and he saw his corpse on the news, tied up and laying on the ground. He thought it was bizarre that they showed his body - the media was so carefully controlled here that most things were censored or just ignored, so it was a bit of a shock.
Anyway, the story of his murder is pretty horrible. He wasn't involved with any paramilitaries or anything, he was just a civilian. He was kidnapped and taken to a house by loyalists, who then tied him to a chair and tortured him for several minutes (paramilitaries like to play with their food). Somehow he managed to escape through a window and made a run for it. He was obviously panicked, distraught and terrified, so he ran to a house a few streets away and knocked the door. An old woman answered, and he quickly explained that he was in danger and she brought him in. The woman was just as confused as the guy so she decided to call her daughter, who arrived soon after. The daughter assured the guy that she was going to help him. Instead, she phoned the paramilitaries and told them where he was. So, they came to the house and recaptured him, but not before he attempted to run again and tried fruitlessly to climb a fence. They tied him up, drove him to a waste ground and shot him.
I can't imagine the sickening fear he must have experienced. Thinking you've escaped and then getting kidnapped a second time. Fuck that!
It happens more often that you might think, though. A recent example occurred recently in Iraq. Ken Bigley - the English man who was beheaded on video - had escaped and was free for several hours before being brought back again. The person who helped him escape (one of the would-be executioners) was beheaded along with him, but I don't think it was filmed.
Harrowing stuff.

My band just recorded like a 5 song demo today. Recording is nothing like I imagined! we recorded as a live band on most songs..but we had to do a lot of takes....still pretty badass.

Recording in a studio is a truely wonderful and unique experience that brings out the best of your bandmates....

Hahaha, yeah. I think thats it, too.
It seems that the tension between the two sects isn't anything new, as the Catholics and Prods have always been duking it out.
Two summers ago I was in a bar in Norway (Bergen) and I struck up a conversation with some Irish guy who eventually invited me over to his table and introduced me to his friends. One of them was a chick who I started chatting with. We started talking about Ireland and its recent history and she told me she was actually in the fucking IRA. I just looked at her. She pulled up her sleeve and had a tattoo, of exactly what I can't remember, but it had some slogan and a logo of some sort. She explained that she wasn't affiliated with them anymore and was young/impressionable at the time. Phew. After that I turned a 25 minute walk home into an hour-and-a-half stumbling marathon.

No. Recording a studio album is a grueling, painful, exhausting experience that sometimes turns the best of us into momentary dicks. I just finished mastering my album which has become the absolute bane of my existence the last few weeks. It is a lot more laid back when you've got a record label behind you and some other guys at the board, but if its a self-produced/financed release it can get pretty exhausting.
Regardless of the scenario, holding the finished/pressed product in your hand is going to be an awesome feeling.

comparatively, i've recorded a few of our demos using some pretty crude implements, and it was a huge relief to record with someone ELSE behind the wheel. i absolutely hate doing dubs and patching in mistakes and all that, i'm not very good at A.) playing something perfect the first time B.) being patient and C.)letting little errors go
so i'm a sloppy perfectionist....
it's a lot easier to have someone else behind the computer starting and stopping my tracks, too
