Holy shit, another Norn Ironer! I thought I was the only one haha, you've ruined my mystique
How many of us are there here? If our internet habits are anything like our migration habits there's probably a bubbling underbelly of about 5,000 N. Irish members here, waiting to jump out like a Mick-in-the-Box and nab themselves a few key mod positions (I see you're already ahead of me there! hahaha).

Hello bunny
I'm from Antrim, about 35 minutes outside of Belfast. It's a fairly desolate little town, and besides the Battle of Antrim a few hundred years ago, not much happens here!
How about you?

Most of the original crew is gone. Except Jim and fucking Rich. Christ help me, why did it have to be Jim and fucking Rich? Why couldn't it have been Bobpurgis, Katham, or Memnoch? Jesus, even that donkey fucking meth freak Slayme would have been immeasurably better than those two simmering balls of putrid smegma.
God damn it.

I know you're from "your ma", but what town are you from? LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Ahh the oldies are...well, shit, to be perfectly honest!
If I remember correctly I had a fight in Armagh when I was boxing years ago, but I haven't seen the place properly (just the inside of a youth club and its lovely car park!). And if I remember correctly for a second time (I'm on a roll) I got my balls knocked in that morning! It's weird, I won all of my evening fights but any fights I had prior to dinner time ended in tragedy! haha It was during one of my morning beatings that I wiped the blood from my face and said to myself "why the fuck do I do this??" and that was the end of that!
Ever been to Antrim? Well, parts of you probably have, because I'm convinced that when someone flushes their toilet in this country the turds end up in the Six Mile River.

Chris only likes them because he never really knew them. Jim and I are really the best of the bunch. And for how old school she really means, only slayme goes back that far.
DLC is downloadable content, is expansions you can download for some extra money. Unless, in the case of Fallout 3, you have it on PS3.
Aside from everything Chris mentioned (or I guess included in it, since it has to do with expression), there's also all sorts of environmental factors. There's a reason all sorts of 'nature v. nurture' questions are difficult to answer, and it's that none of us grows up in a vacuum. For example, if you have a musically talented child of two musically talented parents, is it genetic or is it because they grew up in an environment where musical talent is a highly prized and often reinforced skill? Probably some kind of combination, but it's hard to know when the most likely tests are twin/adoptee.
Morning boxing? Damn. Mornings are for road work.

I don't like them at all. I just wish they were here at the expense of you and Jim, that's all.
Here is my hierarchy of hate, in descending order;
Jim
Rich
G.W. Bush
A. Hitler
G. H. W. Bush
D. Cheney
B. Bush
L. Bush
R. Reagan
W. H. Taft
J. Leno
J. Mansley
C. L. Fuego
M. Gibson
S. Michaels
T. Cruise
Requiem
Anyone who doesn't worship Artie Kendall
This is a rough list, but fairly accurate given the 2 minutes taken to complete it.

While fairly pleased to be above Thomas Mapother III in any poll, I'm mildly disappointed to be rated lower than Jay Leno in the hated stakes. This Scousist attitude just will not do, Chris: I demand to be placed higher on that list, dammit.

Might be government agents monitoring our posts so they can figure out what bands/albums we listen to the most, so they can take those albums off the shelves of every store in the nation and replace them with newer "edited" versions that brainwash us into believing that the whole reptilian species are supreme and that Richard Simmons is actually a holy deity

Believe it or not Oktoberfest is only celebrated in 1 of the 16 states here. I personally hate it....but yeah they are drinking until they get up (not that different from us).

Karneval....That`s when all the gayz and lesbians get out of their homes and dress like total faggots.
Only clebrating-days for me is the festival-season. I`d love to see Mardi-Gras once. Even if I´d be drunk all the time (reason for this celbration isn`t it?`)
We´re boring

There was a march in Belfast a year or two ago, and I can't remember if it was for gay rights or anti-racism (shows how much I care) but every other pub the march passed on its route had 2 or 3 wankers outside it dressed in Ku Klux Klan outfits, taunting the crowd. It made the papers, too.
Gotta love that 800-year-old hatred taking pretty much any form it can now that sectarianism is fading away haha.

So you're saying that you have no patriotic celebration like America with July the 4'th, Canada with Canada day, Ireland with St.Patrick's day, Wales with St.David's day, etc?

Wow. If they were dressed like KKK members I'm sure the march was for Anti-Racism rights. What a bunch of assholes though

Naahh of course there`s one day I can remember 3rd Octobre [Tag der deutschen Einheit]. No school or work on this day....but we don`t celebrate it. Probably there are some more days but I can`t fucking remember
@Pr0az: A few days ago I was at the dentist and she gave me 3 anesthetic injections...And I still felt the pain. No idea why but it wasn`t that kind of tuesday I like

I have only one left. Can you guys get full anesthesia for those wtf???
Two of the four had to be cut out and the thirth one came out in two pieces. It broke above the roots and then they called in another dentist, two guys came out ripping the roots out. Which was pretty hardcore, had to get stiches for that one.

Haha I don't look at the world like most of my America counter parts...To me shit happens and people make mistakes, as long as he undoes it I'm good.
Also to all you guy's who are getting your wisdom teeth pulled do not get put to sleep to let them do it just let them give you those 14 shots of Novocaine. When they pulled mine i felt no pain what so ever even after the Novocaine wore off, but for some reason every other story I've heard from others who didn't get Novocaine and just got put under they complain it hurt like hell when they woke up.
On another note its so weird that evolution is kicking in and making us have smaller mouths forcing our wisdom teeth to be cut out....

Evolution gave us a smaller mouth so men can thoroughly enjoy a blowjob to its utmost potential.

Damn, that's quite a treat for just getting your teeth pulled! I should get mine pulled more often. Or hold your dentist's family hostage and hold out for a years supply of the f-patches and morphine ICEEs. I won't be getting mine pulled apparently, they're coming in just fine.
I've noticed from both my own personal experiences and from others that dentists fuck up a lot so I'm praying mine knows what he's talking about. A few years ago I went into the dentist for a routine cleaning/checkup and they, without my knowledge or consent, put some kind of 'filler' on one of my front teeth to make the length more consistent with the other. I was a biiittt upset. My teeth did not need this done. They looked totally fine. I don't need some silly superficial, minor cosmetic 'correction' to make myself feel better or more confident about myself. The shit broke off within a week and I was spitting up little bits of white shit for a few days.

I only got my right wisdom teeth pulled, so I'm thinking about giving it another go and seeing what goodies they hand over this time
My friend got some surgery on his sinuses, and got injected with some fent... he made sure to let me know about how instantly satisfied he felt right after that.

I don't know if anyone here is into Rockband 1 or 2 or any of that rubbish. But this dude I know was telling me that they use the original studio master tracks (separated into guitar, drums, bass & vocals) And I thought to myself "fuck, that would be sweet if you could hear some of the isolated instrument tracks". So I did some research on the internet and found out that some people have ripped these isolated instrument tracks right from the game onto their computers (.OGG format). To keep this short, I downloaded some. One of them was Battery, and I almost shit the chair once I realized that I could actually hear Cliff play without any of the other instruments in the way. I just listened to the isolated bass track, and it's really eerie actually, for me anyways, because while I was listening to it, I kind of pictured him sitting there in the studio with his Rick doing his takes, trying to get it to sound just right, the room filled with cigarette smoke, a few empty beer bottles on the table beside him. I probably sound mad right now, but it's strange to hear. (And I can tell it's him playing, because it just has that 'Cliff vibe' to it)
Anyways, here are some of the split up tracks I got if anybody wants them:
(Just specify if you want guitar, vocals, bass, drums, or all)
Metallica - Battery
Megadeth - Peace Sells
Testament - Souls of Black
Slayer - Raining Blood (bass only)
Judas Priest - Painkiller
I'm working on finding others at the moment.

Fuck, nice find!!! I always pondered the idea of a "fan mix" of the Justice album. Plus these are perfect for creating backing tracks to practice with. There was a guy on the GuitarBT forums who had some similar material, and like you I nearly shat half a loaf when I heard it
I'll take Battery, if you would be so kind! You can use MegaUpload or the like, if you can't be arsed emailing the same thing to multiple people, that is.
Cheers mate.

Aren't most of the tracks on GuitarBT user recorded? I don't really like those ones, because they usually don't get them exact. The thing that makes this new discovery so fucking cool is the fact that these are straight from the studio masters. I will be honest though, and admit that I don't like Cliff's tone very much. It sounds like they put a mic in front of a broken speaker or something. But I guess he liked to use alot of fuzz. His playing is pretty fucking sweet though.
I should stop rambling, but I'm getting bored waiting for the file to upload
44 seconds left...
Done! Here's the link Paddy. The files will open with Winamp, and maybe other audio players too. It's a rar file with all 4 tracks.

Yeah, but this one particular guy had somehow managed to obtain the original Justice recordings, which is what caused my shit to vacate with great haste

Well it wasn't too bad. They just had to cut a bit to get the two roots out that had been broken off. They stiched me up and gave me some painkillers. Only used those for two days.
I only have one wisdom tooth left, I hope I can keep that one. I only have 1/4th wisdom left

I just listened to Souls of Black for the first time in several years and it was so awesome I repeated the whole fucking disk. I forgot how awesome that album is. Definitely Testament's best work.

HAHA! Yeah I don't even think I'll upload that one unless anyone really wants to hear it. Tom's playing is really weak.
I was also able to get Blackened, Justice, and Ride the Lightning. So I put those into one RAR file along with Battery. Listen to Cliff's playing on Ride the Lightning, it's fucking sweet to be able to hear all the fills that you couldn't normally hear on the final mix.
Download link here. (Megaupload)
RAR file is 107 MB. Be sure that you can play .OGG files before you bother downloading this.

Jesus Christ, Prometheus is fucking awesome. Wrath of the Tyrants sucked, In the Nightside Eclipse was good, and everything after got better and better until Prometheus jizzed all over the music world.
Anyone who liked Wrath of the Tyrants is just trying to be kvlt. There isn't a single good riff on the entire album/demo/whatever, the production is awful, and it's a complete caricature of everything that people hate about black metal in general. Thank God Ihsahn decided to experiment with that thing called originality, otherwise who knows what we would have been stuck with.

I'm just the weirdo I guess.
I love anything Emperor has ever done (save demos, can't hear that shit), but Prometheus is so cool to me. Just the way everything is so crazy, but melds together, I don't know. I guess it was Ihsan's first solo album....
I also like everything Carcass has ever done too....which is weird, I usually don't like everything from one particular band.

Carcass? Swansong doesn't work for me. I like everything else though, to varying degrees.
I like everything Morbid Angel has come out with. My least favorite Morbid Angel album is still in my top 100 albums, easily.
Anthems just finished right now. It's no Prometheus, but Jesus, what a great fucking album.

Yeah, I don't like swansong as much as others...but it does have some really cool jams. Plus the cowbell on like 90 percent of the songs is just fuckin' awesome!
I get to see Carcass very soon. I'm still bummed I miss Seeing Emperor and At the Gates...more so with Emperor...haha

I love Emperor, but I just can't really get into Prometheus and its frustrating. I haven't tried in about a year so I should give it another go. Anthems and Nightside Eclipse are my favorites, in that order.
Wrath of the Tyrants is fun to listen to if you're a big fan simply for the sake of hearing where they first started at. I own it but I've only played it a couple times. I got some re-issued version and it came with some OLD-ass rehearsal videos which where very entertaining to watch. I wasn't even aware of their existence.

Dude, definitely try Prometheus again. I heard empty, and thought it was complete and utter tripe. then about a year later, I got on a real big Emperor kick and popped in Prometheus. I have never looked back, everything fits together so perfecctly on that album. Are the rehearsal videos you're referring to the ones with Ihsahn with the weird pulled back hair? He had black chick hair in the ones I saw....

Yeah, he has his hair like that in most of them. There's three or four if I remember correctly. There's also some old live footage, too.

I can't get into Prometheus either, which is strange given that on paper it should be right up my street.
Anthems, Equilibrium and Nightside Eclipse in that order.

If I were to rank favorite to least, Equilibrium, Prometheus, Anthems, and Nightside. Prometheus is better than Equilibrium, but I heard Equilibrium first and fell in love with it's songs before I had a chance to hear anything else from them. The Source of Icon E still makes me nut when I hear it.

I still have not been able to get into most Death or Black metal..I'm a weirdo to be hanging on this site. Love my Thrash metal and Groove metal though.

Most people here don't like black metal. Emperor is a huge and widespread exception.

That's simply because Ihsahn writes better riffs than most death metal guitarists.

...and since most of us love death metal, we love Ihsahn by default.
The rest of black metal seems to enjoy 50 minutes of repetitive tremolo picking (with no palm muting!), repetitive snare patterns with the occasional blast bleat, gargling gibberish in no actual, existing language (or perhaps speaking in tongues?), and then trying to make it all sound as inaudible as possible. You'll notice any mention of bass is missing from the description. That wasn't a mistake.
Try listening to any Darkthrone song, you'll hear everything I just described.

I like a handful of Black Metal bands, and I cannot stand the kind that Chris so perfectly described.
Chris/John: Have you listened to 1349? I think you'd dig them. Check out the album Hellfire, particularly the tracks "Celestial Deconstruction" and "I Am Abomination".

But... They don't really differ that much from that description do they?

Sure they do. Lots of riff variations, tremelo riffage is well interwoven with other methods of playing, the drums aren't anything special (except for whats-his-face's blazing blast beats) but they're not repetitive, lyrics are actually audible, and the recording quality is great (although the guitars could be louder, along with the bass having more presence). The only exception is the closing track on Hellfire, but I like it. I understand they've got a previous album but I haven't heard anything off it so I can't speak for it.
Is it just me, or does Ihsahn sound like he's Japanese during the whisper introduction on Prometheus?
