...and never stand too close to the kitchen sink with your dressing gown open at the front. Bag-rot is the new AIDS. Symptoms include: perforated sack-cabbage, peppered infantry helmet and a strong odour of badger semen.

Didn't you know? I'm a stylish, cool muthafucka, spending all day in a hip dressing gown, swigging from a glass of gin, cracking wise about politics and literature like it's not beyond me at all. I'm not fat, either, so don't believe anyone if they say I am. Not that they would, 'cause I'm not. But if they do, they're cunts and aren't to be trusted. Women often say to me "Paddy", they say, "you're hot and not fat at all." So you can get fucked if you think otherwise.
Ahhhh fuck!

I prefer the Scottish, and I must say that's only because of Trainspotting.
All Scottish people are witty, untrustworthy, vile, pathetic, junkies.

Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television. Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed-interest mortgage payments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Chose D.I.Y. and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all. Pissing your last in a miserable home; nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked-up brats that you've spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life. But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?

I've seen that movie TOO MANY TIMES. I can practically recite the whole thing backwards, but I still have a place for it in my heart.
"Swanney taught us to adore and respect the National Health Service, for it was the source of much of our gear. We stole drugs, we stole prescriptions, or bought them, sold them, swapped them, forged them, photocopied them or traded them with cancer victims, alcoholics, old age pensioners, AIDS patients, epileptics and bored housewives. We took morphine, diamorphine, cyclozine, codeine, temazepam, nitrezepam, phenobarbitone, sodium amytal dextropropoxyphene, methadone, nalbuphine, pethidine, pentazocine, buprenorphine, dextromoramide chlormethiazole. The streets are awash with drugs that you can have for unhappiness and pain, and we took them all. Fuck it, we would have injected Vitamin C if only they'd made it illegal."

I'm fucking severely offended by your ignorance. There's NO ONE as untrustworthy, vile and pathetic as the Irish
Trainspotting is a fine flick. It reminds me of a happier time when Scotland was seeping heroin from it's very seams, when Ewan McGregor wasn't a hacky overblown actor and when I was still young enough to get on the buses for half price.
I'm just glad that no one has started claiming that the Scottish and N. Irish accents are indistinguishable. Or that Scotland and Ireland are the same country, like the U.S and Canada clearly are. He said provokingly!

I saw Requiem when I was in Mexico, granted the Spanish subtitles were a bit of a distraction, but it was thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless. Incidentally, while I was there I saw Amélie - a French film, which in this case had Spanish subtitles. That was an interesting experience for someone who can barely speak English. Then I saw Ice Age, dubbed in Spanish. My girlfriend at the time had to keep me updated as to what the fuck was happening throughout both films, and to be honest I think they ended up being infinitely more enjoyable as a result

At this moment I'm reminded of a classic song from 1938 by the great Artie Kendall.
OH,
Irishmen pour whiskey on their meat
and they always wake up face down in the street.
After booze goes down their throats
they all go have sex with goats,
so their kids have cloven hooves instead of feet
bah bitty boo!
What? ANOTHER ONE? Sure, I don't mind!
OH,
Irish people force their kids to drink
and they often use their toilets as a sink.
They grunt instead of talk
and drag their knuckles when they walk.
I'm pretty sure that they're the missing link.
Mickety ape!

My dear old maw used to sing me to sleep with that very song, but not before fondling my balls and making me suck the moisture out of her gin-soaked undies.
I seem to remember that you once mentioned you had some Irish blood in you (sorry about that, you have a sharp rim). Have you ever been to Ireland?

Now that you mention it, I don't think I was as impressed by it as I felt I should have been given the pre-viewing hype. Still worth watching, though.

Haha that's not me in the pic, I'm the little girl in the pink dress Chris circled! The guy is the lead singer from The Pogues, the best advertisement for contraception and brushing twice a day in Ireland.
I'm actually offended that you believed I'm genuinely ginger. We all know gingers can't browse the web for fear that their coppery hair will erase Wikipedia.

Fortunately, no. My mother, who has no Irish blood whatsoever, does have some Irish poetry and lullaby books, though. Not sure why. My paternal grandmother's maiden name is Doherty, I think she's the only one in the family who really embraces her heritage and celebrates St. Patrick's Day. The rest of my family just uses it an excuse to drink excessively.
Ireland has no snakes and lots of fog and shamrocks, so I really have no reason to go. The entire UK would bore the ever loving shit out me unless there was a big Carcass festival going on.

I COMPLETELY missed what Chris had circled. I even said to myself, "What the fuck circle is he talking about?". I'm glad that isn't you because it looks like God played a joke on his parents.
Hey Chris, you read about all the 1000+ species they've found in the Mekong? http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/scienc...kong/index.html
I guess the filming of Rambo didn't get 'em all.

LOL tell me about it. He's a national treasure here (at least in the south; this is one of those situations were I'm glad to proclaim the north's Britishness ). You have to see him in action to really appreciate what we're dealing with:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLDcQbe5GO8 [This is him 99% of the time]
Oscar Wilde, James Joyce & Sean O'Casey must be rolling in their respective shamrock-peppered graves.

Haha well, here's one of his more "accessible" releases, Fairytale of New York with Kirsty MacColl:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ff3aoSyYOVs
Pretty much everything else he sings sounds like a drunk gorilla being slowly passed through a meat grinder. I think I remember hearing a few years back that he had gone on the wagon. I think that was the equivalent of Bob Dylan going electric - it pretty much ruined his career!

I just bought the "DBZ Broly Triple threat" 3-movie box set, and Frisky Dingo season 2. Good times.
I can't believe they've canceled Frisky Dingo. Such an awesome show.

Shane McGowan is from The Pogues. Terrific lyricist. I've got a bunch of his stuff.
Malcolm McPherson, an ancestor of mine, came over via Grennock on the ship Ulysses before the US was that. God knows what Canuckland was.

Haha the Irish spread like bacteria, it seems. In our defence, there was a period when we were a wee bit peckish and the U.S had the only half-decent McDonald's.
My dad likes some of Shane MacGowan's work, but I've always felt that he wouldn't be nearly as respected if he was sober and didn't have the teeth of a meth addict. There's something of a reality TV show about him haha. I can't say I've studied his lyrics much; I thought he basically stuck to traditional Irish tunes.
Do you like The Dubliners? The Wolfe Tones? I usually steer clear of folk/rebel music in general, but I've got quite a large handful of their renditions in my collection. "Come Out Ye Black and Tans" is a real blood-boiler

Does anyone here watch Drawn Together? I put off watching it for years and then boredom got the better of me one night and I was hooked. The same thing happened with South Park - I didn't start watching that until about 2004/2005. So many wasted years...

lol South Park is on my tv right now. Sea people anyone?
I think I've heard a bit of The Dubliners, but not sure. A singer/songwriter I was friends with turned me onto other than "Fairytale of New York" and since I write lyrics I took a liking to the style of Shane's. 'Whiskey in the Jar" blew my mind though. I'm still not sure I like their version.
Anyone heard if fbs is near this? I hope he's okay. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,2757...055-421,00.html
His pm box is full if anyone's got another way to contact him.

Man, I probably turned out to be a little pervert because of South Park. My friend's dad introduced it to use in '98. That was season three I believe.
What's up with the forum being so active?

I think the only serious television drama I've ever watched with any enthusiasm was The Sopranos, and once again I didn't start watching that until about 2006! I've downloaded Twin Peaks, created by David Lynch (so you know it's gonna be fucked) but I still haven't gotten around to watching it. Even still, when I do it'll be nearly 20 years too late

I've seen it before, but I don't watch it on a regular basis. I like Robot Chicken much better

Hell I'd let my kids watch pornography before they could watch the Jonas Brothers.

I whole heartily believe that if a parent exposes their children to The Jonas Brothers they should be investigated for neglect, and possibly charged with conspiracy of terrorism.

Frisky Dingo was decent. It made me laugh most of the time, but wasn't especially great. Shin Chan is better. ATHF seems to have been tapering off as late, but I've missed this season so far, so maybe things have gotten better.

For real? Oblivion > Fallout 3. I sold it before I could finish it, really wasn't into it.

I've heard a lot of mixed opinions about that game. Heard there's a lot of glitches too.

I'm not usually into RPG games, but I thoroughly enjoyed S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. Granted, it's teeming with more bugs than one of Jeffrey Dahmer's ex-boyfriends, but it was very engaging/atmospheric nonetheless.

I agree that Oblivion is overall better than Fallout 3, but I think both games are spectacular. It's nothing but fun for me switching off between the two of them (the ultimate time killer imo)
Shivering Isles is such a great expansion pack. I love the Mania/Dementia worlds. I've yet to beat that story, though... I need to get on that in the Summer.

I prefer Morrowind over Oblivion. Going to start Fallout 1 and 2 soon.

I thought that Morrowind felt too unfinished. It was loaded with a bigger land and more items than Oblivion, but that doesn't make up for the unpolished feel of the whole game. The fighting in Morrowind also pissed me off... it took so long before you could frickin' hit the enemy in front of you.

this is precisely why i am so motherfucking reluctant in starting up a new file. I went on with one character for like a year, and then i realized how many quests i had fucked up by killing and stealing. I was so tempted to start a new... but holy shit did they make that one hell of a thing to do.

I could never get into games like Morrowind because of the lack of multiplayer stuff. Come to think of it, I don't like any PC games that don't have a strong multiplayer feature.
Someone's gunna havta 'splain to me whats all this nonsense about this Fallout series and Oblivion. I've never heard of them and its in every thread I go in!

Bethesda Softworks, the company behind the Elder Scroll series, worked on Fallout 3.

You were asking why one is mentioned alongside the other, right?

I'm just asking about them both in general. What they're like and whatnot.

In short, very epic RPGs. You might want to check with gamespot or gamefaqs if you're interested.

They're the types of games that can make a grown man drool.
They have heavy story lines that are accompanied by an enormously free-roaming aspect.
To do everything you can in Oblivion you might spend well over 100 hours playing it... and I just bought an expansion pack.

Considering that i spent 96 hours on Zelda-Twilight Princess, if i remember correctly (partly due to roaming and exploring. side quests and what not), id say that Morrowind games can easily amount to around 300 hours. but that depends on the player. its been a good while since i was really into a game though.
Those screen shots are beautiful.

The first time I beat Twilight Princess it took me around 55 hours, and the 3 or 4 times after that I did it in around 30 because I knew what I was doing and wasn't as thorough as far as side missions. I'd like to get another GOOD game or two; what's a good RPG for Wii?
