I wrote a serial riff in that time once. I was going to be two 12/16's, but I decided that three of the notes needed to be played together, and then the length of a crotchet, so an extra semiquaver was added on.
Really, it's not hard. Just make up a fraction. I find making the numerator a prime number helps because they don't subdivide (equally anyway) and then the denominator an index of 2 (as in most music). I recommend getting a tab programme (if you don't have one already) to help. Guitar Pro is the best. Just look to the bottom of the screen while filling out a bar to see if its complete or missing some or over-filled.
