I think midnight doesn't have a floating bridge but a fixed one, right midnight?
maybe your 'nut' has worn out (lots of downtuning and intensive playing) <- that sounds like you.
another option could be worn saddles on the bridge, but that would be pretty extreme, but it does happen, but it's more a problem on basses then on guitars.

maybe all that downtuning just fucked up the overall tension on the string, if you change your tuning a lot it is bound to go way off once in a while. I think it's just the bridge saddle of the high E string though.
