good practice amp/ small combo amp

I'm now living in a tiny apartment and my peavey 6505+ is too loud to play in here. I need to get some sort of small combo amp that will sound good at low volumes and maybe also work with headphones. I have a podxt but want something real that could work with a loop pedal. Has anyone had good luck with any specific amps or practice setups?

Maybe I could get a small cab for the peavey head or something? I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to amps so any advice would be awesome.

dude you can't go wrong with roland cube. any of em are great, but the bigger you go the more options you have. to me it sounds crappy with headphones, but i hate headphone guitar. but the amp gets quiet

I'm in the same situation as you - i got a used ampeg SS-70 combo amp for 100 bucks off craigslist. added in a noisegate and an eq pedal and I am a happy camper.

By the way, when I added the eq pedal the quality of my tone improved by 10. just leaps and bounds better.

I used a Peavey Bandit 112 combo amp for a long time and was very pleased with it. I still get to play it sometimes because I ended up selling it to a buddy of mine. Its a good little amp. Well not so little.. it was loud enough for band practice.

Out of curiosity what eq pedal did you use on the ampeg tripton?

i use a boss GE-7. It does the job nicely. I put it in my effects loop, in front of my noisegate.

You may want to look into a MXR M108 which is 10 bands (instead of 7 bands for the Boss). Doesn't cost too much more and gives you a little more flexibility.

Cool man, that 10-band does look nice and only costs about 15 dollars more. I've been curious for a while now to see what an EQ pedal would do for my setup... maybe ill go pick that one up
