Searching for a new amp
I'm looking to upgrade my amp but am unsure as to what to get. I've only been playing for about two years now and i haven't got a terribly vast knowledge of amps. I have been thinking about saving up for the mesa/boogie dual rectifier, but I'm open to suggestions. I'm mostly into death metal (Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal, Disgorge, Deeds of Flesh, Immolation, Opeth, Morbid Angel, Agiel, Suffocation etc) but I do enjoy some doom and black metal also. I'm looking to keep my price range for the head/combo around about 1,500 or so..give or take. Volume is also a bit of an issue as I don't always have the luxury to crank it...though I would to have the option of doing so. I guess I'm looking for is some suggestions for super brutal amps.
A NJ Warlock is my main guitar right now. (stock pickups...most likely will change to emg in the near future)
Thanks in advance

id personally suggesta peavey 5150 as i own and trust them..
also, our other guitarist has a 5150, and a NJ V, with stock pickups, so the sound will be the same (monster!!)
test out a range of amps if possible and decide with that

I played on both the 5150 and 5150II but I liked the XXX and XXL better, peavey is worth to check out.
for that ammount of money you can also get a marshall TSL100 or a Hughes and Kettner Zen Terra head..
I prefer hughes and kettner though, but it's hard to get in america.

For a rich id have to disagree and go with a kustom. This gives it a more concerty crunch sound. And if you like gain 95% of all kustoms come with a over drive button which defeats the perpose of buying an 80 dollar pedal that does the same thing.

Both Cannibal Corpse & Morbid Angel use Marshalls & they usally come with a
power switch. You will probally need a pedal but the sound is devistating.

Ehh no they don't. Pat uses Mesa Rectifiers and Jack uses Digitech 2101 preamp and Ampeg poweramps.

If I were You I would save some money by buying a Crate Gx900h(400 dollars) or
a Crate Gx1200h (Not sure how is it) with an Ampeg Cab (299 dollars)...........
And the rest of the money for Yourself buy urself a mail Order Bride from China or Russia
Homer Says:
Listen to Bones98 and get those Crate Thing-a-majiggers or I'll
make you barney's best fiend

honestly...i so no big deal on amps...i just buy a marshall...a big one with overdrive...thats all ya need. The amp shouldnt make the cool sound you and your guitar should! I mean come on im tired of all the people who think having the best pedals and amps makes you a cooler player...ive seen bands with the top of the line stuff who suck ass! Ans ive seen kids who look like they are from the projects or sumthing kick major ass! JUst get a amp that gets loud as you would like and play it!

Buy either a Marshall or Crate man like a half or full stack I found a Marshall brand new full stack for 1000 bucks and a Crate full for 890 bucks.

IMO, tone is in the fingers... but hey, if ya wanna blow a lot of cash on an amp, knock yourself out.
Seriously, I'd go for a good marshall.

if u want a good amp but want to keep some of that money u should look at musiciansfriend.com in the blemish section. i bought a cheap little practice amp (Marshall 15cdr) for $75 and it only had a tiny little ding that we used a sharpy on to take it away. (nice sounding amp, I'd buy another Marshall again)

i dont know about h&k's, i've seen people playing them, from what i remember, they sounded good. But i'd say go with a marshall. But i am going to sam ash (music store) today or tomorrow to test out some peaveys and other amps. But until i get back, i say marshall.

my H&K is great, I wouldn't ever get anyother brand except David Eden and Trace Elliot, but I'll probably stick to H&K forever, heh

i've kept my selections open everytime i would go to buy a new amp, i even ended up buying a line 6 for 1000 something (boy how i regret that). But i will always love marshalls. Its a great tone for metal when you get the right extras.
