It was just a layover stop on my way to Bahrain..I'm in Sigonella, Italy right now for about an hour..charging up the mp3 player in the terminal..luckily this is another American airport, otherwise I might not be able to plug in my laptop.

Nope.. I wish we had enough time to get out and see these places. I'm on a military flight out to meet up with my ship. There are just a bunch of other people also flying out to either their ships, a base for deployment, or are being moved out somewhere to live here. So we stop at various places and people get on and off the plane to go wherever they need to go. I think we have one more stop then we get to where I stop flying with this plane..Bahrain.

EEEK! Bahrain lol. That is one hell of a flight. If you get any time off there, rent a car and go check out the Tree of Life. It's out in the middle of the desert and is the only living green thing around, so you can't miss it. It's really awesome and freaking huge. No water, sand storms, insane heat, and yet it still survives and is like 400 years old! One of the natural wonders of the world. That and the ancient burial mounds are well worth seeing.

Plus the gold and silver in Bahrain are cheap! I bought several onces of 24K gold bars, and a few kilos of 999 pt silver bars there over the years and made thousands on resale it in the US. I sold my last 2 onces of gold 3 weeks ago and got $1900. I bought it for $700 in Bahrain. Trick is to smuggle it through Customs once you get home, because importing government stamped bars into the US illegal or something. You definitely don't want to pay duty taxes thats for sure. Your shipmates ( CAPT included ) should show you where they stash their loot Rocket tubes, gun barrels, secured compartments, places US Customs are not allowed to look.

Soul - I'm not getting to stay here in Bahrain..waiting for some brief and then jumping on a helo and heading to the ship. Kinda pissed cause, yea it was a loong flight! Wanted to get a day of rest and maybe see the area a little bit and take some pictures. Oh well..such is life I guess. Sleep is going to be something I'll be used to doing without soon enough.

Guess it's the same with soldiers as with travel guides... of all the benefits available, nothing will ever be so highly valued, or desperately sought, as sack time.

It's going to be awesome seeing your ship for the first time. Makes your skin feel funny lol. It's a hard ride from the States to Bahrain. I did it once and much more prefer to sail. Flying just isn't my thing. You might welcome ship board life compared to the last few crazy days. At least I did. It's much better compared to feeling lost within TPU. With any luck your ship will make a port visit back in Bahrain. Its a neat and wealthy little country. I think Michael Jackson lives their now so look out!
