Get away from your metalheadness for awhile and check out some church choirs. You'll learn breath support, tone and pitch, harmony, and some even have guitars and drums. The thing about utilizing a church choir is it's free. Not a cent. Or you could call some of them and see if you can find out if their directors give private lessons or can recommend someone to you. Generally you won't have to join or do anything other than the singing part. I learned a lot being in them. I want to go back someday.
I'm up in Ohio and the protestant church I go to has a casual service with a light rock band. You might luck out and have the classical as well as the contemporary styles.
