peavy valveking
I got a peavy valveking head and the matching cab a little while ago. The head blew on me after 2 days so i exchanged it and this ones fine. The head sounds good but I hate the cab. The highs have an odd buzzy sound and it has no low end resonance. I was thinking about getting a splawn cab for it. I was also wondering what preamp tubes would sound best in it for metal. (my first tube amp) The low gain input sounds good but the high gain input sounds muddy and gritty. Im not sure if its the amp or my pickups. The texture knob makes a big difference but as i turn it clockwise it gets quieter, looser and more saturated untill its almost all the way down and then the volume shoots back up when it gets all the way to class a and sounds almost exactly the same as when its all the way on class a/b. Is that normal?
