what do I do?
When I feel like I'm gagging a bit...I've been singing a lot of Devourment lately...and I feel like a very faint feeling of wanting to hurl......but it isn't really bad...I'm just afraid it may elevate during my next show......the show that I want to debut my new vocals at...
I've just been really making sure I get a lot of water between songs....do you guys think I should be ok?

You're probably just activating the muscles that control your gag reflex. I don't know a way to correct that without changing your vocal approach and thus the style. I've never had that problem so I don't know what else to tell you...

ah, well this is just a new style I'm trying....but I like it a lot. I guess I'll just mess with it some more. I just gotta try not to use that muscle....

I think I've figured it out. In order to get those real gritty gurgly vocals I've been using my tongue, or the muscle at the base of, it to achieve the sound I am trying to get. after a couple of really fast verses that muscle gets worn out. So I guess I am doing it wrong....I'm really afraid of blowing chinks on stage or completely losing my ability to sing....but I can't go back to singing my old way because it is BAD!
and my show is tomorrow!

There's no "achieving" when you do devourment vocals.

I think I should be fine, I'm not going to do those kind of vocals a lot...just certain parts of the song.

dude, just wear corpsepaint and eat alot of katsup before you play.
so even if you do blow chunks, at least it will be metal as fuck.

I've heard similiar stories from beginning singers who are learning to do proper scream vocals, so you're not the only one with that problem. It indeed appears to be a case of doing it wrong, but I'm confident that it's nothing very serious.
Serious is when it actually hurts, and even then, if you stop at the spot and rest your voice, the damage will heal.
