Damn straight! They need to get paid like all of us do. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I really don't think Tom Araya or any of those guys are exactly driving around in a Ferrari picking out summer homes to buy outright

Slayer + Mastodon peak my interest enough to say "Hey, i might actually GO to this." Just because I really haven't gotten a good chance to see Slayer in my lifetime... As far as what he said about 'it being about ticket sales,' people shouldn't get their panties in a bunch. God forbid they do something for themselves for once in their careers.

If any of you haven't seen Dark Knight though... good god. Go see it. Only time I've left a theater going 'wow.'

and Heath Ledger killed himself because he knew he'd never top the role. Duh.

There's people with Heath Ledger avatars? I thought this was the gayest place on the internet.

On the topic of Mr. Ledger, I saw The Dark Knight last night. Was good, and Heath did do a great job as joker.

Statement backed. I didn't like anything else he was in, and he did an amazing job. Just because he's dead doesn't mean he deserves an award for the role. If he wins it, its because he did a good job. Enough said.

But heath ledger avatars, now thats just gay. Brokeback Mountain avatars or did they pick another movie?

check imdb.com... I only recognized 4 of the movies, 2 of which I don't even remember him being in.

didn't see Brokeback Mountain, have no interest in seeing it.

Broke Back is worth seeing just for the cinematography. Everything else is alright, but other than that there isn't much to write home about.

Reqtum, isn't that Heath in your avatar?

I'll take your word on the cinematography, but secret gay love doesn't peak my interest. Somehow I think I'd rather see 10 Things I Hate About You. Could be mistaken, but I distinctly remember 2 sexy bitches making it worth the watch.

Don't you hate that feeling? When it feels like you've been slaving away for at least two, three hours and its barely been an hour?

In other news, I just found out my drummer's basement flooded. The head and cab i told everyone about were still there. So now I have possession of the entire amp for good, and now I get to clean mold off the cab.

Great. Fucking great. I know Soul said it was easy to re-toltex if you are slow and careful, but is it really that easy? I need to do that and re-grill the thing. God I'm so pissed right now... I'm worried about the head since the cab is moldy...

On the topic of Heath Ledger....There is this mildly retarded fuckwad at my school who thinks he's a genius....I remember him saying this shortly after his death.

"I'm sad he had to go....he was a cinematic god. He died for film, just like Brandon Lee. They were martyrs."

I almost shit my pants, I laughed so hard!

I really cannot express how much I loved TDK. I've been a Batman fanboy for as long as I've been breathing, so that film was pure gold. Ledger was fantastic, but it's a shame Eckhart's not getting the credit he deserves. He suprised the hell out of me.

amp cleaning checklist:

disassemble cab
check speakers for damage
check wiring for damage
sand cab
get stencil of Fred Phelps spray paint on new grill, then spray paint an inverted cross underneath him
re-grill cab
re-toltex cab

then take apart the head and vacuum the shit out of it.

Wait, I'm kindof living under a rock as far as media/gossip/movies go..

So there's this guy that played the joker in the new batman movie that also played in that movie about gay cowboys eating pudding, and he is now dead?

Trust me, him playing the joker completely absolved him from every shitty/homosexual role that you could hold against him.

But yes. Thats a good summary of what you've missed.

I'm sure no one missed me but I spent over a week in the hospital. I got really drunk and thought it would be a great ideal to kill myself. I'm not the suicidal type but at the time it made since somehow I was lucky I didn't cut to deep and that my sister came by my house and found me. I was passed out and dying. It's scary how close I came.

The real problem is that I've used drinking far to long to cope with shit and more so since I left the Navy. That's not going to work for me anymore. It took some really intence treatment, but I'm a new person. Life has meaning again for me.

Why tell you cunts? Why not?

The real problem is that I've used drinking far to long to cope with shit and more so since I left the Navy. That's not going to work for me anymore. It took some really intence treatment, but I'm a new person. Life has meaning again for me.

Why tell you cunts? Why not?

Dude, that fucking sucks. Glad you're okay though. Drinking puts weird shit in your head, I can tell you that. Especially if you get emotional about dumb stuff.

Yeah, I thought I was in complete control... I found out that I wasn't. Slowly over years of drinking I convinced myself I was drinking normally. I forgot how to live without booz.

Edit: Nothing say's, "your out of control" like waking up sober and finding out you nearly killed yourself.

Shit Soul, that's rough buddy. I'm glad you're ok though. Are you going to get treatment for alcoholism or anything like that?

I bet you're eternally grateful to have a sister now.

I'm getting major treatment for alcohol like 8+ hours a week. It was the only way I was let out of the hospital. I was committed and locked up. Not drinking isn't hard but dealing with a panic disorder and the stress I used alcohol to cope with is difficult.

I'm doing really good though. Anything is better than staying at the hospital. I feel better and I'm more aware of myself than ever. It's an age of discovery for me. I even quite smoking I'm so happy I survived.

Suggest picking up (another) hobby to keep yourself occupied with. Keeping busy is one sure way to keep depression/stress/anxiety at bay.

I agree with Dissection, because I can relate to what you're going through with the anxiety thing. I have had chronic anxiety attacks for about eight years now, and keeping your mind occupied helps reduce the amount of panic attacks you have. Having good people around helps too; friends, family, girlfriend etc. When my girlfriend, friends, or family (the ones that I like) are around, I hardly ever have anxiety attacks... point being, try not to be alone too much, because that's when your mind can turn into your worst enemy.

I wish you all the best man. You've taken a big step, you should be proud of yourself

That's one of the key points to this.

Soul, I did almost the exact same thing a couple of years back, and let me state something: Alcohol is not your problem. It's the state of mind you're in at the time(which,in essence means you probably shouldn't be drinking at the moment anyway). Granted, I was only seventeen at the time so the source of your problem is probably much more serious than mine was, but the point is, drinking is not the only thing is causing this type of behavior. I still drink every now and then and have no problem, just make for sure you get the proper therapy. That was key to my recovery which is why I think this is probably much deeper than you just drinking too much. I wish you the best.

Just remember, you have a family to think about, and if that means not drinking(even though I don't think that's the problem) then so be it. Your little girl should not grow up without her father, who seems to be a great guy, just has some problems he needs to work through. Again, good luck.

Fuck man, that is heavy. Good to see you are still alive.

Not meaning to pry, but do you have an alchohol addiction?
PSD from being navy all that time and can't handle mundane family live?

Shit, I just want to help but I don't think I realy can, seeing as you are at a complete different point in life and did/do completly different things then I..
But at least I hope this shitty experience will at least start the ball roling to deal with any problems you might have..

I guess something like this is at least a wakeup call to whatever it is you need to wake up to

"moderation" is no suggestion to make towards a recently suicidal self-professed alcoholic

I wasn't suggesting moderation. At least not now. I meant he might want to get more than just therapy for alcohol abuse. Judging by his story, sounds like something much deeper than just drinking too much.

I got enough hobbies, projects, and family to keep me busy for years. Writing a song about the whole thing isn't such a bad ideal. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm actually getting more done since I've been home. I got a few amps I'm rebuilding and they are getting the royal treatment with super attention to detail. I expect to also see an improvement in my playing skills too. It's amazing how much I was drinking and how much time I wasted.

The military is a hard life for anyone and a major life change. It's well worth doing and its also a good time to develop some bullet proof coping skills. Its also a time you can start some bad habits. Leaving the military is another major life change. Compound that, a bunch of other shit, plus bad coping skills, and eventually something will go wrong.

There is more to this than just alcohol but for now it's just better I don't drink at all just in case I use it as a crutch again. That's where the trouble starts for me. Maybe in the future but for now I have to rebuild my body and mind.

Have it sitting next to me, borrowed from a friend. Haven't watched it yet, he says he watched it twice all the way through. So I'd recommend it just based off of that.

Hey soul, not to get your attention away from talking about what happened, but... Was wondering if you knew of any videos online on how to replace toltex/grill on a cab. I'm about to take pictures of this haggard thing since its at my house. Sitting slightly moldy in my shed until I clean it more thoroughly. In a big plastic bag type thing.

That's what I thought, but I just wanted to confirm it anyways because I didn't want to risk spending like $30 on something that could be rubbish.

I don't have any vid links but it's pretty easy to do. There are DIY guides but I'm sure you can figure it out. You basically just cut and glue the new stuff on. Take your time and get things right.

Their annoying new guys are 700x worse than ours....check this shit:

"i know you use the C scale for blues soloing but is there a scale made more specifically for rock soloing?"

Went to the God of all CD stores yesterday, Ameoba, and in the Metal section they've got a little area for rare/out-of-print stuff and they had a (and I shit you not) $300 CD by some band I've never heard of called, if I remember correctly (phone picture is too fuzzy), Excruciator. The artwork was some shit printed off a home color printer.

THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS!? That band must be fucking AMAZING.

EDIT: No, it was this band: http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=9480 Excruciate and the album was Passage of Life.

It's just like a $3,000 guitar amp... there IS no sound worth $3,000

Yeah. I agree with MTM - nothing special. Why on earth 300$? Did Jon Lennon jizz on it the morning of his death after he heard the Queen farted on it? I'd imagine seeing this with something like a hand numbered, #1, limited to 100 Death CD (or similarly important band a little more legendary).

There needs to be a Kelly Blue Book of metal albums or something, because $300 for that Excruciate album is plain st00pid. All of a sudden something is rare because it is obscure and expensive, haha.
When "Dechristianize" came out by Vital Remains I remembering the Ameoba in Hollywood having an "import copy" of the previous album on sale for $80. As long as you know what you are buying it's all good with me. If a poser comes along and buys a "rare" album and pays major cash for it, good for the store.

well i think the vital remains stuff is actually rare, 80 bucks for cd isnt nearly as egregious as 300 for an unheard of band

That's true, I sure as hell can see paying $80 for a CD if it is worth it.
Which reminds me, remember that Gorguts shirt on eBay that was like over $200?

Yeah, they're not good. And no, no other albums breaking 50$

Although, for some reason, almost every Stockhausen album there is over 35$ and goes up to the $80s. I'd understand if it was a rare CD, but they'll have, like, 3-6 of them. This makes Dyldo angry.

Syncophant, I forgot you lived around there. Isn't that store fucking heaven? I've been to the other two Ameobas, but they're not near as big.

Haha yeah Darko that Ameoba store is the shit. I used to hang out there all the time, and I remember what a bitch parking was to find there. I haven't been there in 3 years, not since my old band broke up, and I'm still kicking myself for missing Jesu play there last October. That was the first and only in-store concert they ever had that interested me the slightest.
Every Stockhausen album is probably over $35 because they have to be all more than one CD long. Once I was looking around there and they had a complete set of that opera it took him 26 years to write, "Licht", and it was like 22 CDs long. Funny that I don't remember the price, talk about "boxed set"!

haha yeah, my band mate bought that (considered dead tour shirt)
funny you mention that, i am wearing my considered dead shirt right now. check this nonsense out ( i am TEH COLLECTAR!!)

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j.../gorgutsduo.jpg
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j...rts/fourgor.jpg

ive never spent more than 76 USD on a shirt, and i have the biggest collection of blue grape and old DM shirts ive ever seen in person. i can definitely see throwing down a ton of money on collectors items but you really can get way better deals if youre patient and smart. all of those gorguts shirts would sell for over 100 easy and i got obscura for 30, one erosion for 16, from wisdom to hate longsleeve for 30, considered was a bday present but that one did cost 150 something.

anyway i love collecting stuff. right now im gunning for an ORIGINAL effigy of the forgotten shirt, with the shell baby.

I have Voivod's "Killing Technology" on vinyl. one japan pressing and one original Noise pressing. the Japanese one was kinda an accident in the description it said "jpn print" or something...but I guess for some reason I kinda passed that by. he even posted a picture of the back of the vinyl and I'm surprised I didn't question why there wasn't a Noise logo on the back. well anyway, I got that for around $20.98 including shipping. I was kinda bummed when I got it, but I was happy I at least had it. about a week or two later an original Noise vinyl went up and I got that one for $32.89 including shipping. other vinyl records I have

CKY-Familiar Realm 7"
Monstrosity-Burden of Evil 7"
Human Remains-Admirations Most Deep and Foul and Happy Days 7"

other rare things I have are both Sindrome demo's, Into the Halls of Extermination and Vault of Inner Conscience

I actually should have the Monstrosity Darkest Dream 7" by now too. I bought it from the same guy I got the Burden of Evil single from. he sent me the first and then after I asked him why he didn't send them together and he said his paypal account froze up and he wanted to wait until he could withdraw the money from his account to send me the other one...and well if anyone wants the full story just ask Sam, I told him about it.

anyway, it's been at least 3 months. to save myself some typing, I'll just copy and paste some of the e-mails...(just remembered I deleted some, but the one's that are still in my "sent" folder should explain my situation well)

Yeah i cannot do ANYTHING...they wont let me transfer a thing...i didn't send both cause at the time the other one didn't close yet and this was money i needed to save my ass... this whole thing has become a big fiasco and these idiots have embarrassed me, im trying to find work and this whole scenario just made me depressed when i was in dire need of the money i accumulated with my auctions... sorry, Chris

I just checked my bank account, and $20 was taken out on april 17th for the second item I bought from you. on my paypal account, the only thing I noticed that was there was $1.95 a few days ago, I have no idea what that was for, but now that's gone (nothing to do with you I'm sure). and if this has been going on for 3 weeks, why didn't you respond to any of the e-mails I sent you and keep me up to date? that would have been better then just not responding at all. and what do you mean by the first 3 winning items? I only bought 2 vinyls from you. I'm just wondering why you didn't ship the two items together instead of sending one at time to prove you were legit (like you said in the other e-mail). it would have been just fine to send them both at once. there's no way I'm going to send another $20 to your girl friends account when I haven't gotten my other vinyl from you yet. what's holding you back from sending that thing? and is paypal keeping you from transferring the money to your bank account?

hey did you notice that your money is just sitting there and hasnt been withdrawn? Paypal is giving me a hard time about my account and holding over $500 of my money! This has been going on for like 3 weeks, i was trying to sell this stuff to keep myself from being homeless, and have spent the last 3 weeks doing whatever i can to make some money... Then go request your money back from paypal, i certainly don't have it! Unless you want to make payment to my girls paypal and then i will send it!? Considering i had already shipped the first 3 winning items out of my own pocket these bastards now owe me over $100 regardless for items i was paid for and have yet to get the money for! Chris

alright, I tried to be nice, but I'm getting impatient. I'm giving you 5 days (that's till the 9th) to respond to me, or send me what I bought. if you don't, I'm filing a claim with paypal and getting my money back. I tried my best to be patient, but I'm not waiting any longer.

I sent him an e-mail about two weeks ago asking if I could send the money to "his girls" paypal account. I wasn't really going to, I just wanted to see if he would respond. of course he hasn't. I wouldn't be so fucking pissed about this if he was AT LEAST communicating with me and keeping me up to date on this whole thing. so it's almost August and I still have nothing.

and I STILL haven't gotten my Incantation shirt! even after john sent me an e-mail back on May 15th asking if I could give him my address and we could get the whole thing worked out. the day before he sent me one asking if I had gotten it yet. I told him no, and if he had any xxl's left to send them on over.

some things I almost won
Iniquity-The Hidden Lore (went for $66 I kept getting out bid. the guy must have set a high maximum bid and at the time I really need to save money so I just let it go)
Watchtower-Energetic Dissasembly vinyl (I can't remember if I bid on this one or not. I think I was saving money at the time, but it only went for around $30!!! wish I would have bid on that one)
Human Remains-1991 demo (went for around $35. at the time I was low on money so I had to let it go....REALLY upset about that one)
Carcass-Necroticism original 1992 issue (went for around $28 I think. I almost bid on that one, but on the same night I had one Immolations Dawn of Possesion original pressing. I was again trying to save money so I kinda held back)

lately I've been keeping an eye out for some Autopsy stuff. I won the original CD pressing of Acts of the Unspeakable a week or so ago. next I wanna track down the Fiend for Blood vinyl, Retribution for the Dead vinyl, or Acts of the Unspeakable gatefold vinyl.

I'm not sure if it was there 3 years ago, as I JUST found out about it about 6 months ago, but they have their own underground parking lot! I guess I always assumed they only had that tiny lot in the back and never bothered to drive around on the other side.. or its just brand new. The last few times I've been there they always have the "Lot Full" sign up, but I go in anyway and theres always a few spots open, so ignore it next time you go.

Awful. You'd think that about the Stockhausen, and while a lot of them are, a lot of them are 1 CD with an average of $45 bucks.

The other great thing about Amoeba is that its about 2 minutes away from Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. Now, that place is fucking HEAVEN.

And black!

A few weeks ago I was bidding on a rare and out-of-print Mr. Bungle shirt that I thought I was going to grab for like, $30. I put max bid for $50, a price I never thought I'd pay for a shirt.. then I lost.
