Bass Strings for Bb
what gauge bass strings would you need for Bb standard tuning on a 4 string bass? the bassist in my band need to tune down with my guitar but doesnt want to get a 5 string, which i keep telling him would be easier. is this even possible?

I don't know if they sell four string sets that big.
Just get a five string set and throw out the G.

You WILL have to make some changes to the setup of the bass though.

Yeah, 'cause even if you can solve a problem just by changing your current bass a little, it's STUPID not to spend 700 bucks (minimum) on something YOU think would be "easier".

I don't see why they don't make various guages of bass strings.
I remember a long time ago I use to love playing in B tuning...I would always buy 7 string sets and not use the high e....then my friend was like.....just buy some 13's
they need something like that for bass

yes, they do sell b strings. ive been playing B F# B E for the last forever. just go to the music store and ask them for single bass strings. they usually have a box of them. look for .135-.120, .125 being a pretty good size. not too big.

they do. but incredibly hard to find. baritone strings. just easier to just buy a normal set of strings at normal gage, and get a B string... or buy a 5 string set for a bit more money.
either way, its not hard to come by.
just make sure you adjust your setup, and probably have to file down the nut to accommodate the larger strings.

Pfft Why waste money on a heavy gauge string when you could just go out and steal some of this from a construction site?
