Bands with good bass.
I'm tired of unexistant basslines. I wan't bassplayers that can actually play something else than just follow the guitars. Not those sad pathetic excuse of a musician like most bassists today. Gimme some bands with awesome overwhelming basslines.

Interpol. Tool. Malign. Watain. Secrets of the Moon. Naglfar's demo (or maybe NagElfar, I don't know, the one that's split up already, not the dumbasses that are still active).
Eeer. I cān think of some more, but I'm off to rehearse. The bass has a good role on most Marduk-albums though.
Edit: OH and Slayer's Hell Awaits.

hate to say this, but Black Dahlia Murder bass is sweet. Not the best, but I like a lot of the fills that Bart does (not sure if he's elaborated on what the older bassists did or not)

Well, besides the ones already listed, Voivod has some pretty cool basslines (especially around the Nothingface era), Watchtower, Anata, Akercocke, and Black Sabbath, though I'd hope you'd know them.

Suffocation's Breeding the Spawn album has some fantastic basslines. How about Manowar? Early Iron Maiden? Early Coroner has some nice, audible basslines.
I'm also a huge fan of unique basslines and bass being in the front of the mix and don't understand why more metal bands don't focus on this.

Nah, I like a lot of the Pantera stuff. There's great basslines in there but they don't always stand out in the mix.

If you are looking for some new hard rock check out this band from Chicago called Janus. I was pretty tired of all the ordinary bass and am glad I found these guys. what terrific bass they have.

..right.
I'm not familiar with any of their new releases, but Borknagar's first album (self-titled) has some fantastic bass melodies, especially in the track Svartskogs Gilde. Its BM (with our Lord and Savior Kristoffer Rygg on vocals, however!) and I've heard they've gone in a different direction since this release, so, I cannot say its something they're known for.. just this album.

Anyone else that wants to provide convenience and relevancy, for the sake of the thread. Seeing how this is a bass thread, i provided the means to instantly hear the bass solo, rather than searching through the 9 minute-long song for it.
You did the quote wrong, asshat.

Dude, Primus! Les Claypool is the most amazing bass player ever! Listen to the song Tommy the Cat and you will understand! Les uses 4 string basses, 5 string basses, 6 string basses, you name it, he's played it
Red Hot Chili Peppers has some pretty cool bass lines too. Flea is awesome.

Shining's V - Halmstad has the bassplaying done by a certain Phil A. Cirrone, and he puts down a very good tone there, aswell as some superb fusion-y playing.
