Avatar cab for 6505
I just bought a Peavey 6505 and now I need a cab. I've read that the 6505 can sound like utter crap unless it's paired with a good cab. I want to buy an Avatar cab just because I've heard good things from them and they won't break the bank. What can you recommend from Avatar that will do well with the 6505 as well as speakers. I'm looking for an insanely brutal sound capable of The Day Everything Became Nothing, Frightmare, etc...

Size doesn't matter as long as it can handle the wattage of the Peavey (120 tube) and neither does the speaker as long as the sound is brutal.

But seriously, the v30's will supply the mid hump to push your sound through a live mix. Also, they have a nice thick crunchy breakup. The 75's will supply extended bass, and fizzy highs, giving you a heavy chug with a top end crackle which when mixed with the thick v30's will be brooootal. It'll be sweeet.

when it comes to cabs, i try to aim for the highest ohmage. Higher ohmage = more cabs you can connect to your head later.
BUT, if you only have an option between 8 and 4, get the 4. You can rewire 4 tto make it 16 ohms... when you rewire 8 you either get 2ohms, or 32 ohms hahahah.

Yea, I looked at the manual and it said the lowest ohmage was 4 so i'll go with that.

I REALLY like the way 5150's/6505's sound with G12T-75's and/or V30's. But honestly any nice Celestion or Eminence speaker should do.
Avatar cabs are really nice. But have you looked around your area for a used Marshall or something? I bought a beat up 1960B from a local classified ad a couple months ago for $200! Sure the tolex was ripped up, spray painted on, and it was missing part of the logo. But if you gig and tour around, that's going to happen anyways. And the speakers in that thing alone were worth at least $200 on the used market.
Buy used!

Used equipment around my area sucks majorly, but I bought a scratch and dent avatar cab and the only thing i feel i missed out on is choosing the tolex color, but I save like $150 so yea used is cool.
