Cult of Luna
I searched but didn't find a thread so now we have one.
New album coming up 'Eternal Kingdom'. i got my hands on it early and it is awesome. it's not too far off their previous albums style great build-ups and more crushing riffs although maybe not as heavy over all, feels a bit less metal and a bit more art-rock this time around. and the theme is brilliant. i'm not sure where this blurb came from, may have been an official press release or something
"Based in the northern Swedish town of Umeĺ, Cult of Luna rehearse in an area that was once the site of a long demolished mental institution. Upon moving their practice space to a different spot on the same site, the band
uncovered long forgotten relics of the hospital, including old apparatus and
medical journals. Amongst the discovery was the diary of Holger Nilsson, a
former inmate of the prison placed there after drowning his wife. The diary
was titled 'Tales from the Eternal Kingdom'.
Digesting the diary, the band realised that they had stumbled upon the
ramblings of a madman. In the diary, Nilsson blamed the death of his wife on
Ugín, a fictional character created to pass the blame for the murder. The
diary created a completely imagined world in which owl men and tree men all contributed to a fantasy story that explained why Nilsson was innocent of
the crime.
Naming after the album after the diary itself, and weaving their own
intricate compositions of light and shade around the harrowing story, Cult
of Luna have produced a dark masterpiece, shadowed in the macabre and the
fantastical, the perfect companion to the bands own brand of cathartic
melancholia."
Tracklisting:
Owlwood
Eternal Kingdom
Ghost Trail
The Lure (Interlude)
Mire Deep
The Great Migration
Osterbotten
Curse
Ugin
Following Betulas
another impressive release, better than 'Somewhere along the highway', but not quite another 'salvation' in my eyes.

The concept of this album sounds brilliant. Can't wait to here it. I've got 'Salvation' and love every second of it, if this one is anywhere near as good as it I'll be satisfied.
Edit: A friend sent the promo(I guess) to me a little while ago.
Wow this is really, really good.
