Ive been looking into both of these guitars recently. I have a friend who works at a music store and is able to get me either one of these guitars brand new for half price. Right now I use a Peavey XXX through a crate blue voodoo cab. Im mainly into 80s thrash...Old metallica, megadeth, testament, kreator, slayer, death, opeth, maiden, iced earth, and the list goes on and on. Below are the stas of each taken from musicians friend...

Ive played both guitars and like them both. Is there any real trying reason to pick up one over the other? It seems like the stats are somewhat similar. Also, Im planning on buying the white finish once I decide which model guitar I want. I know that the EC-1000 has a contoured body top similar to a gibson les paul. Im wondering if the EC-500 has the same contoured body top or is the top of the body of the guitar flat?
If any of you have opinions on either of these guitars or could give me some direction in making my final decision it would be greatly appreciated!
