tune-o-matic help

ok I have couple of questions. First on string through body guitars with TOM bridges is there any defference between the different ferrel hole arrangements for example esp ares straight across and some v'd and schecters are angled most of the time. My second question is what woukd cause string breakage on a tom bridge cuz resently I have been breaking way to many strings every thing seems fine ive had the guitar for about 3-4 years and never had any problems I havent changed my stlye on picking technique either please help thanks

The layout of the ferrules should really have much effect, although I guess if they are too close to the bridge and the string angle is too sharp then it could cause problems, particularly with thicker strings.

If you're suddenly breaking strings, check there isn't a rough or sharp bit on the bridge saddles. It couldn't hurt to get some graphite on them even if there isn't.

Is it always the same string?

Have you always used the same brand strings?
