Starting to learn solos
hey ive been playing guitar for around 2 years and ive just been learning riffs from songs (i can do all the riffs in angel of death, an assortment of necrophagist riffs - the intro and verse of epitaph, the verse of foul body autopsy and the verse of stabwound and the first couple of riffs of crown of horns by cryptopsy). anyway, i want to start learning solos and i wondered what the best solos would be to start on? i can sweep and tap if its needed and id prefer to play something thats either thrash or death metal.
thanks

pantera solos are really good for learning, they usually start out as a cool melodic lick followed by some great shred-scales to improve speed. Start out with Mouth For War, The Great Southern Trendkill and Domination for example

another good/easy solo is Death in Fire by Amon Amarth...also Exodus - Bonded by Blood...Bonded by Blood is a little faster at points (especially the end) which is good practice...oh and The Trooper by Iron Maiden...

alot of the solo's off Deaths, symbolic album are pretty cool to learn. They also introduce you to the harmonic minor scale and its various modes

The first solo I ever learned was "The Wonders at Your Feet" by Dark Tranquillity. SUPER EASY solo but it sounds mega cool.

the first solo i ever learned was Kerry's solo in War Ensemble. Very simple, fun, and easy to memorize. Another good one to learn is Testament's First Strike is Deadly.

I started off by attempting Slayer stuff, Both solos in 'Seasons In The Abyss' and the three in 'Black Magic' are pretty easy if my memory serves me correctly.
