where do i start...
the production on the new album is weak. WEAK. it took four years to do that? riiiiiight. the vocal production is better than it used to be, but the new clean vocals just aren't as good as the old were. their lyrical themes don't match the music at all. and the lyrics are completely juvenile (no exaggeration, go read them). they are also contradictory.

surely there are more appropriate issues to discuss, from a band that is TRYING to make depressive, atmospheric black metal.

^^^this is both hilarious and confusing. praise the north, then bash it. make up your fucking mind.
i'll also point out that on that^ song "Your Ontario Town is a Burial Ground", there is a off-key harmonization at 3:50. whether it was written wrong, or just recorded wrong doesn't excuse the mistake (for a "professional" band).
i did like ONE song. "To Lock Eyes with a Wild Beast".
The last song on the album is titled "Mistakes Artists Make". i think they summed up the new album pretty damn well, there.
