what kind of gear were they using when you saw them? sounds like there's some droney wah in there. that hummingbird style you mention is visible in one of the vids ... it's really smooth ... a lot of slides. he reaches that pinky way out and then drags it back in ... long fingers.
i love the shoegaze/wos kind of approach. the guitar lines on outre sound like they're chasing each other sort of an echo or re-phrasing ... like a call/response kind of wail. and the drums creep up underneath. ahh so good.
i'd really like to see it all in person.
edit: you didn't mention incantation in your comparison. they're probably a big influence, sounds like to me at least.

One of my favourites. They use 7 strings if anyone is wondering. And I believe they achieve that drone sound by picking all the strings extreemly fast and keeping their freting hand tight on the fret board and playing singing trills very quickly but letting each of the strings ring out but only freting one or two.
