i am almost 100% decided that for my latest fixed bridge guitar purchase i will go with a dean 79 V. ONE problem though. i mean i know karl sanders plays one etc but i have heard that the necks on those things are almost as thich and "U" shaped as gibsons. would it be possible to slim the neck down with some sort of tool? i dont need to know what tool because my guitar tutor is an excellent luthier so he could sort that bit out.

what i really do need to know however is whether it is safe to do this, will it affect tuning stability? could the neck possibly warp due to the truss rod etc?

i am not the most knowledgeble person on guitar setup so i would be very grateful if any advice could be said!

i dont have a lot of flab on my neck so generally its not a problem, but carb counting and skipping will probably work. turn your head 30 times a minute to to get a good neck work out.

If the tool does exist, it will not warp the truss rod...but in all honesty, i think the best bet is buying a whole new neck...unless you like the atrocious headstocks on deans

I would only advise carving the neck thinner if you know the exact specs of the truss rod and the truss rod channel- you don't want to carve through to the truss rod!
