couple of set-up questions
Thankfully I've had the time recently to work on my DKMG and Warrior. I was hoping I could get answers on a couple of set-up related questions that have been bugging me forever now.
1) For Jackson, what is the factory setup height for the bridge? That is, how high does the locking trem need to be off of the flush w/ body point? (I'm not talking about action, rather a more general "bridge height" amount.)
2) There's like a ridiculous amount of ways to check neck relief. Which one is the best way (without using a notched straightedge)?
3) When would it be a good idea to put a shim under a locking nut? Would it help stop string buzzing?
4) I can't find any other Jackson factory specs online and I can't find a way to reach them to ask. Does anyone know them offhand or where I can find them?

I can only help you with question 2 and 3.
2) The way I check it and my guitar tech just fret the first and 14th fret and check the space you have left between the top of the 7th fret and the bottom of the string. There should be some space, like enough to put a creditcard in between. it there is no space left you have too loosen up the trussrod if there is too much space you have to tighten the trussrod.
3) I can explain but I found a site that can explain it better than I do so I'll just post the link here

Thanks for helping me out, man. I saw that page from Rich Harris's Ibanez site before but I totally forgot about it, that's basically everything I wanted to know. As for the Jackson factory specs, I'm gonna have to do a little more detective work for those.

there has to be a little bit of space otherwise you can't tell if your neck is in a backward bow. a deadflat neck isn't always good, especially when you have an agressive playing style.
