I've been playing classical for something over 2.5 years, but I don't know exactly. And yeah this junior guy is learning La Cathedral, and it definitely sounds hard. I got to see this kid perform it at one of David Russell's master classes. I learned plenty from that.

I've only seen Azabagic play El Ultimo Cancion (or El Ultimo Tremolo). From what I've heard it sounded great. He has a good balance between staying in time and adding some emotion. You don't have to slow down or speed up tremendously to make a peace suddenly "soulful" or "beautiful".

Yeah see this is what i was mostly blown away about.

I'm not really a drummer but i've been working on my drumming and 16th notes at like 180 is not something i can do cleanly. I can do triplets at 215-220 without TOOO much concern but something about the rhythm of 16th notes.

Their entire goal was to be able to play some black metal (the name slips me at the mind) much faster than the band played it. He told me it eventually got to a point where his feet would move so fast that he couldn't explain to me the motion that his feet were doing.

I agree with you though. I don't really care for speed. I just need enough to accomplish what i'm trying to do musically.


Btw: Just watched that video. I've either seen this one before or just this player. I think the video speaks for itself about the arguements.

same here dude. Me and a friend built so much sick shit with legos when we were around age 10. We built this big ass tank once and a realistic-looking Humvee complete with our own self-designed suspension system. Us and my brother would also build houses for the sole purpose of destroying them via earthquake simulations. We also came up with this cool jousting game where we set up two road platforms on either side of each other and put them at a slope from which we would let our jousters roll down into one another. Whichever one had the more damage was the loser so we had to design them with this in mind. I must say we were some creative and talented young lads. oh the days...

I too have made some sick realistic tanks. Also a shit load of different airplanes and helicopters. I made about as fairly good looking of a cobra helicopter as one can get. Also a Saab Grippen jet too.

They got really sick new pieces like much better cockpit glasses that i've thought about buying them on ebay and making some new models.

At like 14 or 15 i turned my entire room into an aircraft carrier. It was pretty sick hah.

Yeah, I was actually in a school during a shooting. It was that Campbell County shooting in Tennessee about 3 years ago, were 3 principles were shot and 1 actually died. I was there to pick up my ex early and heard multiple gun shots. Scary shit. My ex was frantic, her family was friends with the family of the dead principle. I was the only one that thought that was funny.

Note: I'm not calling Devry shitty. I've looked a lil up on it and apparently there have been a few class action law suits over the years dealing with quality of education.

The only thing i think one can take away is that Devry seems suspect. And if to the average joe considers Devry a suspect college (having suspect degrees) i feel pretty confident employeers might as well, regardless of how true it may be.

I've said this before but I think it's appropriate to bring it up again.

Stay away from all "for-profit" vocational/technical schools like DeVry, University Of Pheonix and ITT. Their credits are non-transferrable, which means after you graduate with an Associates you can't "upgrade" to a bachelors at a REAL school (read: state and government accredited) because your credits aren't worth shit. These schools follow different rules than everybody else, hence their shitty, 5-chapters-a-night-oh-here's-some-random-homework watered down education. At ITT there was this saying "pay a fee, get a C." I graduated last week with a AA in Computer Networking Systems but the degree really isn't worth shit. Nobody takes these for-profit schools seriously - as a matter of fact IBM and Motorola put cease-and-desist orders on ITT barring them from using their names in their commercials because no ITT graduate has been known to have gotten jobs at IBM or Motorola. They have more "recruiters" (aka salespeople) than counselors, who get their commision by duping you into signing the Student Enrollment Agreement, which for some fucking reason costs $100, all of which is going straight into their pocket. Don't even get me started on the teachers. Imagine trying to teach someone something you have no idea about, and then having the nerve to give that person assignments they can't even grade because of their lack of knowledge. It's a joke.
Another thing too - it's the biggest waste of money because the loans they make you do are FUCKED UP. My brother's 4 year tuition at UCLA (he graduated last year with a Bachelor's in English) was cheaper than two years for me at ITT. I owe those bastards like $38,000 (for an AA??) and we didn't even use most of the books we got in any of the classes. A friend of mine got his financial aid taken away and "redistributed" (they said they would hold onto it for "later need", but they really just repocketed it) for no apparent reason, because they don't follow the rules of government accredited schools they are considered a "private school" and they can basically do anything they want as long as they make a profit. Fuck that, educations too important to be treated like a commodity, that's why I dropped out of the bachelors program after I got the AA last week and I'm certifying my ass off now.

Ok first off, my mom has a bach degree from University of Pheonix and its definitely not a "not worth shit" degree.

I'm not talking about an associates, because lets face it an associates degree is hardly a degree at all.

But to say that a bach degree from University of Pheonix isn't one taken serious is bull.

Should you get an uber technical degree? No probably not, but to fullfill the check in the box of having a degree in MOST jobs (those that don't need you to be technically proficient in your major) it indeed does fullfill it.

Granted alot of colleges like University of Pheonix are more geared towards people who are older, who have jobs, and who need a degree to move forward, but already have experience. Also for people who are working fulltime and can only do college at night, or online, not for the soon to be out of high school student whos trying to find an easy ride.

I'd say nine times out of ten the education you get in your major is hardly ever applicable to the job you will end up doing, so to say the education is too important is a farse for the majority of jobs as well. Sure you may take one or two INTRO LEVEL classes that could be applied else where but thats about it. The only majors that do not apply to this are jobs in technical fields where your major mirrors the technical field you are going in. Example: Getting a science degree is neccesary to get hired in a science based occupation field doing scientific work. Most people seem to believe the only jobs out there are jobs that relate DIRECTLY to your major, and the opposite is actually the case. Just cause you have a business degree doesn't mean you are going to be doing business using those business principles you've learned. Just cause you are in English, philosophy, or sociology doesn't mean you are going to be dealing directly with english, philosophy or sociology. Most people knock those 3 degrees directly, when in reality (other than the technical degrees is technical fields) these degrees are probably the most applicable to EVERY SINGLE JOB possible. Communications, writing, and people skills are what matter most to probably 99% of jobs out there.

If the main problem is money, community college is an answer, but community college will completely derail any chance of having a worthwhile college experience, which is WORTH busting your ass to go to a 4 year college for 4 years. This is coming from experience.

One last thing. Just because a degree is 2 years doesn't mean that it shouldn't be costly. Granted it completely depends on what you are getting a degree in. If you go to any audio production schools one can expect to pay about 38-45k for 2 years, coming out with a bachlors in audio production.

It's not that it's not worth shit; it's unaccredited. Outside of the world of private, for-profit educational facilities like DeVry, University Of Pheonix, ITT, etc, it holds no power. I was told by a MCT (Microsoft Certified Trainer) that if I wanted to get a managerial position later on in life, I'd better leave ITT because an unaccredited bachelor's degree will never hold it up in the real world when it comes to promotions, etc. Ripoffreport.com is full of similar stories like this, these schools offer ALOT more than their word is actually good for.

The main problem I have with these schools is that they promise "hands-on experience" and "flexible classes"... then why the fuck have online classes if you're going to be "hands-on"? Because it's cheaper to do and they still get paid the same amount of money because of your "tuition." Why have a so-called "flexible class schedule" when they're going to force you to have classes at x y and z times and Saturday too? Most people don't know this but these so-called "online classes" require you to log in AT LEAST three times a week or you get dropped from the class. It's all a crock of shit, and they all make money from those exact kind of people they have in all their commercials who are older, have responsibilites, and who need a degree to move forward.


That's because these audio production schools are owned by for-profit educational companies like ESI Inc. who's idea of "tuition" is slapping you with a $??,??? loan from SallieMae, where each seperate payment has the interest rate calculated on top of it. I say fuck getting ripped off and go to a real college, even struggling for 2 years at a CC just to make the cut into a big-time school and killing your college experience is more worth it. The main difference being later on you won't owe $30,000 (aquired interest per payment not included.) I know some people who are graduating with me that need to file for bankruptcy because of ITT and SallieMae and their ridiculous tuition cost.
