Cab Modification - tutorial?

My Framus cab tends to be slightly boomy and the low-end isn't very tight when used with the Engl, is there a genuine way I can change this and 'tighten' it up?
I remember last year somebody posted up a cool write-up on modifying cabs using eggbox foam etc, anyone have a link? Thanks guys!

Tis a fat tutorial dude, well done. I was thinking of making some mods to my cab aswell. Is there any more mods you can do?

just finished doing the foam lining in my 2x12 and i'm wondering ...

is there supposed to be foam on the back panel? or just on the top/bottom/sides? i lined everything including back panel (excluding the board that the speakers are mounted on) and the sound seems drastically dampened.

but i used that spray glue so i can't easily take it off the back panel to check the difference.

I put foam on the back panel of mine. If the tone is killed then by all means remove some foam until you find the perfect response. It is possible to add to much foam. Keep in mind that the bass freqs are meant to be naturally damped down by the foam. You might have to boost the bass a bit more but you will notice a controlled difference at higher volumes. The rumble of the speakers is still there but the "woopf" speaker fart disappears.

My Randall 4x12 cab is basically two 2x12 stacked on top of each other, if you check my pics in the mod post. I use two heads to drive the speakers in stereo. The foam and wire upgrade drastically changed my rigs tone for the best. I have superior control of lower freq EQ now without boomy response.
