the vh140 and ss140 amps have two separate poweramps (75w each), with separate outs.

i'm thinking, could i somehow split the input to them, so as to use my tube preamp with one and have the ampeg preamp on the other? i guess this would mean adding a new input jack and some rewiring.

is it even worth considering, or are these poweramps shitty to begin with?

I would say that yes, it is possible, but not without permanent circuit board re-routing etc, I personally wouldn't want to do that, especially not to something like the Ampeg. If you do decide to go ahead I have the wiring Schematics for the VH-140.

If those heads have stereo fx loops, you could get a Y splitter cable, and plug into the return and gain line-level access to both poweramps individually.

sqol> the fx loop is mono. but maybe that would make the most sense as a mod ... making it stereo and adding the jack there?
