What to choose?? – custom guitar order

After long time I have finally made up my mind to make a custom guitar order. I ma considering 2 companies:
1. Rek http://rekguitars.com/english.php?site=cat
2. Ormsby http://www.ormsbyguitars.com/models.html

Did anybody of you have anything to do with above companies?

Thanks a lot

isnt it a guitar built to your custom specs? Technically that should mean that either companies will make you the same guitar. Question you have to ask is which one is cheaper.

I was the first to order a Ran in the USA years ago. They did a great job and the guitar is still amazing today. What turned me on to them was the price. They are still cheaper then US custom shops but the wait time has jumped up to be about the same as other builders. Ran says they need about 8-12+ months before shipment. A few years ago it was only 3 months for a custom shop design. I have thought about trying another custom shop when I have a new guitar built but I know I will just get another Ran. Their work is supreme.

There is no doubt Ran is considered as very good guitar manufacturer. But my goal is to have metal guitar view but rather with a bit of vintage guitar appeal. I like Rek style guitars with wide bindings and fine headstock venires. I am trying to imagine how e.g. explorer would look like with perloid bindings and burl wood headstock venire.

I have ordered from Rek. These guys know what they're doing for sure...
Replies very fast on email, no matter how many or how stupid questions you have. Seems very interested regarding making you a real nice looking guitar. They often come with suggestions of their own, and sometime even told me things like "we don't want to do olike this because it will not turn out so nice, maybe you could try this instead?". Even some things I wanted would cost more they talked me out of it, because of the estethics of the guitar.
They are a very small company, only 2 brothers working, gives you a kind of personal feeling when dealing with them.

So what about the result? Well, flawless is the word... Extremely careful with details, they have plenty of knowledge about different exotgic woods and what tone characteristics they have. Everything in my guitar turned out they way I wanted, so can not do anything but recommend them.
I chose them over other luthiers in Poland (Ran amongst others), because they seemed very interested in their answers, also the waiting time was considerably lower (3 months).
The price was nice too, considering special inlay, bindings and other things, I think just above $2000 is pretty nice (Also I live in Sweden, so there was no tax and minimum shipping costs). Bought it in 2006, since then they, as Ran, seem to have gotten more costumers so they may or may not be more expensive and have longer waiting times...

So send them a request, and do not worry about the quality, it will be top notch!

Edit: Oh my guitar is called Ztevies Blue in their gallery...
