GX-130C Help Please
Ok,
so i bought a GX-130C head off ebay,
i've also owned an SS-140c but it didn't work, which is why i purchased the aforementioned amp.
I turned it on, with all of the level knobs low, and on my guitar as well, and then put my guitar vol. on full. No sound. Big whoop so what.
Turn the level on the amp to 3!! no sound... WTF?
Panic time.
I fiddle with the cables in the back to make sure it is connected to the cab, which it is. I put the cable (from guitar-->amp) in the -6d8 AND the 0d8.
what the hell is wrong with this thing.
I feel like i am overlooking a very obvious detail.
Throw any suggestions at me, because i am a HUGE GEAR NOOBIE.
I don't know ANYTHING about gear so just list off a bunch
of things and i 'll try them..
Thanks for all the help

I know that the GX-130c is a stereo head. I'm also assuming you've got a mono cab. I'd make sure first that both power-amps are working. If you look on the back you should see two power amp outputs... have you tried both power amp outputs by running them into your cab, one by one?
P.S. Dude I thought you were gonna fix that SS-140c?

BTW no one could fix the SS-140c and it was just a pain in the ass

agh you've got bad luck man! :S
try the preamp ... run preamp out into something else, like the fx loop of your ampeg, see if you get a signal.
try the poweramp ... run the ampeg in the fx loop of the crate see if it powers the signal out to your cab that way.

Hey man... I have a gx130c combo and i'm looking for some advice with it. I really like ccorpse's tone in their kill album and i'm trying to get in the ballpark with this amp. Right now all I have is a crappy eq pedal in the fx loop. I have a 80's hamer chapparal with a x2n and it sounds great but I just don't know what I should get for my amp to have it the way I want.
I'm thinking a multi fx unit or something with more tone shaping but i've been out of guitars for a while and i don't want to throw money at stuff I wont need.

Not sure about the combo but I beleive it will have less bass that if it was a head with a good cab. The ONLY pedal I have in the FX loop is a Boss EQ Pedal and nothing else. My guitar goes into my Boss Tuner and then into a Noise Suppresor and that is it. I have a HUGE sound dude. I have the gain cranked to 10 and the scope (I think that is what it is) at like 6-7, bass at 8-9 and treb at 7-8. I use the EQ Pedal to dial in the tone I want and presto!!!
I love mine dude!!!
Anyone know what other bands like Cannibl Corpse used to use these heads? I think Malevolent Creation did at one time as well.

Thanks bro. I think you're right in that I need to get at least a 2x12 cab to hook this thing into. The regular combo speakers just don't cut it.
