Different Neck Styles

Could someone explain to me the different neck styles with the letter they are represented by. I keep seeing U and C and i've seen others, but I don't understand what kind of neck that is.

They're just meant to vaguely describe what the shape/profile of the underside of the neck is like. I don't know about a U, but a C is just a regular round profile, like Fender strat necks, or older Gibson LP's. Some washburns supposedly have a V shaped neck, that is, the center area protrudes out more than the rest of the neck. So you can press your thumb against it more for more leverage.

If you looked down the length of the neck, and took a cross section of it, that is what those letters are trying to describe.

Ok, thanks. I'm glad i asked because I was looking at some guitars with 'C shaped necks' and I hate that type of neck.
