tuning in B, strings, vs pedal vs baritone guit
Hi,
could anybody helpme to know how I could tune in B, with a usual Jackson 6 string dinky. ?
i mean, I must change strings (what thickness?), or it is also possible to use a pedal (picth change) and obtain a similar result, without changing strings and dedicating the guitar to that tune.
And what advantages has a baritone guitar with a normal one with thicker strings
thanks a lot experts 4 u help

If your guitar doesn't have a trem on it I would suggest buying a pack of strings for a Seven string guitar and throw away the High E string (smallest) then just normally tune to B.

Pitch shifting for changing tuning sucks IMO, unless you play at volumes high enough that wont let you hear the strings on the guitar audible, otherwise it sounds and feels awkward and just throws you off, makes it hard to concentrate.
Just get high gauge strings like 56-12(Dean Markley) or what I use, a D'addario 59-10 7string set and take off the high E, so you get 59-13. Works perfect for B.
Baritone guitars are usually meant for tunings much lower than B, like F# and G. A normal 6 string will handle B with the right strings.

(I'll speak in English just for the sake of being polite with the other folks)
You won't have any problem with tremolo bridges, I have a guitar with a Schaller licensed floyd tuned to B. But you need to be aware that you're going to have to adjust the tension of the tremolo springs in the back of the guitar so it evens out with the tension from the new strings. There are many threads here with info on how to do it right, like this one: http://metaltabs.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38854
If you have any questions about that let me know too.
Oh and I live in Gran Canaria.
