Thoughts on Dimarzio Pu's

Ok, on my dime I have a X2N/AIR NORTON set up (x2n being the bridge)

I love this set-up, but i have a project almost done, but im not sure what to do... Heres the deal: I'm thinking of a X2N/pro track/paf pro combo (b/m/n) or evo/pro track/evo (still iffy for this PU as a neck pu, again its b/m/n) set-up, my body is poplar, and neck is maple. with an OFR.

The PAF pro is a killer neck pickup. I have it paired with a X2N in the bridge and a SD Hot Rails in the middle of an RG570. I absolutely love not only the tone, but how versatile the PAF pro is. Great pickup! Can't comment on the Evo.

PAF pro for the neck yeah, its awesome. Really awesome for the bridge too although not super high output/tight.

Can't say anything about center pickups though, I think the protrack is more of a shredder humbucker for the neck position(bumblefoot uses it there I think). Have you looked at the other (non necessarily dual rail type) single coils that dimarzio makes? You are getting a 5-way rotary switch in your guitar with H-S-H right? If so you don't need to worry if its not hum canceling as center positions generally set the wiring to parallel with the center coil, so there's no hum.

DiMarzio has sound samples on their site. They sound really cool. I have an Evo in the bridge, a Carvin V-22 in the neck, and a S7 single coil in the middle. I got a Fender Mega-Switch wired so I can get bridge, sigle sound out of bridge and middle, both humbuckers, single sound out of mid and neck, and neck. It was a lot of wiring but the dual hum bucker kills on lead.

+1

I also have it paired with an X2N and I love that combo too. The X2N handles all the crazy distortion i want and i use tha PAF PRo for cleans and some soloing and riffs...its quite versatile like davie_gravy said.
