Just trying to start an interesting topic here, most of the time what level do you hold your bass, and why? please vote.

I like it at the in between crotch and belly button because that's the area where you can do the most thrashing around while you're playing and still actually play the right notes. Nothing worse than a bass player who just stands there with that big ol' instrument staring at his fretboard.

I play it around my belly, actually between belly and chest.
It looks crappy, but you can play really relaxed, and slapping/popping is easier.
If i play it lower it's harde for the left-hand.

pretty low, near my knees, my four string hangs on my knees haha, I've got straplocks on that motherfucker so I can jump around and throw it over my head and shit
I use huge bassplectrums to play when it's hanging that low, or else I can't even reach the bass properly haha


my 5 string is too heavy for freaking out, so I hang it a bit higher and use it for technical stuff, like metalpoldi said, its easier to pop and slap when your bass is hanging a bit higher.

Mine would have to be the crotch area, cos well it just feels comfortable there, and if i am playing something technical, then i will have to higher up the strap, its a useless strap anyway, when jumping or moshing, it loosens or strengthens

yeah but that looks gay if you hang your bass way up there, only crappy jazz and fusion bassist do that kinda stuff haah.

I mean what if some hot chick flashes at you in the crowd, and your going up..up..up think about it..haha, you need something to cover it, well your bass might rise a bit haha.
