Individual Tracking Program

The title doesn't explain what I'm looking for that well. I've heard in passing that there is some sort of program that you could load a song up to and listen to all the individual instruments by themselves. Does anyone know the name of this? And I'm not looking for something like GuitarPro or Powertab because it's not the real song and it's got a fake quality to it.

Unless you have the song already split into individual instrument tracks, nothing of that type exists.

Yeah never heard of that, but certainly Guitar Pro helps a lot when learning songs, even if it does sound a bit fake. Sometimes thats better, because you don't have a load of mushy gain obscuring all the notes.

call the band up and ask for individual tracks, haha.
But, there are some CD players that i have seen that you can turn down a specific equalizer, which will get rid of vocals, or a certain guitar or bass...But, i dont know the price..or if i was baked.

Man if there were software that could actually split songs into tracks like that, I would have remixed the shit out of everything by now.
I know the Transcribe! software can take out vocals by removing the center channel and putting the left and right stereo images out of phase. Of course, that messes with the overall sound quality but it sure helps figure out guitar parts. It's also got that equalizing function as well that Mortal_Lament was talking about. That really helps figuring out what the hell is being played by bass or guitar, especially if the track has horrendous production.
