Every Time I Die
just got 'the big dirty', the new album by every time i die. it's fucken awesome rifftastic rock/punk/metalcore shit with like a pretty big influence on the rock.
came with a dvd, was fucken awesome too.
great band in general. i dont get sold on average metalcore bands and am into the other side of metalcore like DEP and converge, and while not exactly like either party, id recommend ETID to fans of both. its like a more relaxed, southern rock influenced, Jane Doe era converge.
plus the vocals are awesome.

Yeah I listened to this band for the first time a week or two ago. I always thought they were like Atreyu or Killswitch Engage but was glad to hear they were not at all. I haven't listened to them enough to say that I like them, but the songs I heard were pretty cool.

Just heard some tracks. Not impressed. Still don't like them.

Useless, horrendous tripe. Especially the vocals.

Wait, are you really comparing ETID and the almighty Converge?
1, you called Converge metalcore.
2, you called DEP metalcore.

Wrong. Converge are basically the pinnacle of metalcore these days. The bands you listed [and the millions of copycat bands] are basically gothenburg thrash wannabes with a polished sound and breakdowns. None of which are traits of metalcore. Metalcore being a fusion of Punk and Metal. Converge being a fusion of punk and metal; see Buried But Breathing and Albatros for punk, see Forsaken and Love as Arson for metal [thrash beats, doublebass beats, atonal riffing] etc.
Dep might not explicitly be metalcore, but i find it the easiest to throw them under.
I dont think i need to give you, of all people on this board, a history lesson in punk.

Infinity is absolutely on the money. Metalcore - and it's original extension, mathcore - was originally termed, circe 1999, when describing bands like Converge, Botch, Drowningman, Dillinger Escape Plan and The Red Chord.
Inexplicably, the introduction of Killswitch Engage to the masses led to metalcore being applied to them and all that have followed in their wake despite them not showing any traits of hardcore whatsoever. They are all just metal and I don't care what anybody says on the contrary. If you can't handle the fact that there are shitty metal bands without the mechanism of placing them in the current "cool to hate" genre then you don't deserve to be a metalhead.

i saw them waaaaay back in the day, atleast 5 or 6 years ago, at this tiny venue and they were fucking sweet. saw them randomly like 2 years ago and they were all about the girl pants/sweet haircuts and sounded like shit. maybe my taste in music has changed a bit over the years but i can definitely say they suck a lot more now then they did then.
