Before there was Bruce...
... there was some guy called Paul and he has a bunch of shit you can download here, because he's giving it away.

His Iron Maiden albums were great, but no way better than what Bruce has done for the band vocally.

I agree with assBehemoth. Paul DiAnno was great and fit Maiden really well at the time, but Bruce is the MAN.

Ya gotta remember, Bruce puts on his pants one leg at a time just like us.
But then he goes and makes gold records.

The dude can fall down on his rib cage and let no sign of it enter his voice while singing. My guess is his spandex pants come running and slide up his legs when he whistles.
Maiden with Paul was a rawer and punkier experience. Pretty good, but they'd have never reached the heights, both artistic and in terms of popular success, that they ended up achieving had they stuck with Paul. I've never heard his solo stuff but I always mentally filed it with the Deathriders.

When comparing the two, Bruce is hands down the better vocalist; but they are both great for what they were doing.
Try listening to Bruce's version of "The Drifter."
Its garbage. But with Paul, its fucking amazing.
I keep meaning to check out his solo stuff, but I never get around to it.

IMO he's a lot better than Bruce. Paul just had more rasp and harshness to his voice.
